*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Nice size comparison between the Switch, Switch OLED and Switch 2 side by side at 13:44. Nintendo really did go big with this one.

No Hovis here.. I did start baking bread recently. Here's some leftover loaf. Wasn't expecting 50+ people in the queue already when I got there at 12 on the dot.

Yup she's big alright and a tad heavy, but not too bad. The new joycons do feel much heavier, and they are also bigger and feel better built. The new pro controller feels amazing in the hands.

I haven't played any games yet, still trying to download everything, downloads are slow, guess Nintendo servers getting hammered.

I haven't followed the switch 2 release too closely so I'm not aware of all features but I can confirm now that 4k works well when docked to the TV and the UI looks clean. Audio is unfortunately limited to LPCM 5.1, no Atmos here though virtual 3D for headphones is supported. 120hz is only available at 1440/1080 resolutions but the switch 2 won't let me select 1440p on my TV, only 2160/1080 is available.

The screen seems to work well, it's 120hz and it seems to have some dimming function as I can see halos around white items on black backgrounds, I don't know how many dimming zones there are. The screen can get very bright and the colors appear over saturated and really pop - it's very bright and colorful.

Even though I have yet to game on it, the switch 2 is a bit warm on the back. The fan is louder than the switch 1 was but you can still only hear it if you stick the vent right against your ear so it's functionally extremely quiet

Edit: thermal images attached, back of the switch 2 is around 33/34c and 39c at the vents, this is when sitting on the Home Screen and downloading games

@Grim5 do you think the panel is IPS or VA? Noticed any significant backlight bleed?

On another note Amazon still not dispatched, glad I got an order in elsewhere!

Now that I've looked at the screen in the dark, I'd say there is small to no bleed, and it looks like an ips screen. Black levels aren't as good oled so it's probably not mini-led or anything like that. But it makes up for it in brightness and color saturation, the switch 2 screen really pops

Edit: got some more thermal snaps, but only interesting thing is the device definitely runs harder when it's docked - sitting idle on the Home Screen it's 33c at the vents, downloading a game it goes up to 39c, playing Mario Kart world in handheld it's 44c and playing Mario Kart docked the vent temperature tops out at 50c

And the battery drains so fast, I haven't timed it to be scientific but it feels like 1 minute gaming = 1% battery life in Mario kart.

Older games benefit a lot - the first games I tried were old ones I knew ran poorly - such as deadly premonition 2 which IIRC runs at like 15fps when on the skateboard on Switch 1, but on the Switch 2 it's buttery smooth and I've also found older games load much faster now
