*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Yea, it's all in the link you've posted - https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Supp...l-Games-Across-Multiple-Consoles-1647413.html

On only 2 consoles, the primary console can play games with no restrictions, but the secondary console can only play games borrowed as if they were physical games card; one-by-one. And you need to go through that online check every time you load that eShop game on the secondary console. And that's how my two Switches behave. The first-time only must have the two consoles close to each other is a one-time DRM check-up. Then every time you load the game on the secondary console the DRM will check if the primary console is online.

Physical games won't have this restriction. Or the Switch 2 needs to be the primary console.

I'm going to have the same rubbish when I open-up my system on Sunday.

Just rereading your post....

Having the Switch online shouldn't be a problem, but having it paired every time for every game would be. Imagine if I buy a new eShop game....because switch 1 is the Primary, I won't be able to play it on my Switch 2.

If I make Switch 2 my Primary, that sounds like it will lock my Switch 1 out of the eShop games unless ir pairs.....and any new games I buy won't do the current arrangement where it auto download and install and let my nieces play them.

Unless of course I just get all physical games only, which I want to do but you know how some games won't be, especially if they are going to be larger than 64gig.

Looks like I'm in the minority. My box seals are actually intact, although clearly starting to go. Very obviously just crappy seals. Guy at Argos warned me about the seals being crap when I picked it up earlier so they've clearly seen it a lot today.

Mine delivered from Argos had all seals intact.

Mine from Smyths was also intact, but when I ran a blade through largely disintegrated rather than cut cleanly. Seems like they are fragile by design to indicate tampering, but way too fragile to be any use for that!

Yea I don't think there's a perfect answer based on how I've seen my Switches behave. Either you have the secondary console, but have to do the online checks, or don't. Physical is likely fine for first-party games but for how long. As you say games are more and more reliant on patches.

Spent the evening playing Mario Golf and Super Mario World. Not allowed to play MKW until the missus is home tomorrow night! :D Shame there's no Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow as that would eat up a lot of my time (again).

Am I correct to think that to borrow/lend a virtual game cart, you have to do the physical pairing thing? You can't just lend it to someone with a friend code?

I also notice you can only borrow for 14 days...and then will need to do the pairing again? whyyyyyy. That of course is for different account surely.

Otherwise my sister will just need to get her own Nintendo Acount but then all the progress they have made on the games on my profile would have been lost.

Checked DPD tracking last night and it said my order was on the way to my local depot in Gloucester
Checked DPD tracking this morning and it said my order was at my local depot in Sheffield... WTF

When I called DPD they apologized and said not to worry, it was a sorting error, it will be sent back from Sheffield and I should have it by Saturday.
Needless to say I cancelled the order and then bought one from my local Argos

So far so good, definitely feels more premium than the original Switch and even the OLED.

As for the issue with seals being broken at Argos... I questioned it when I was there and they advised the seals are just poor quality. They had a roll of their own seals which were a similar size but with 'Argos' branding and they stuck them over the plain Nintendo ones. Apparently this means if I found anything missing from the box it would be proof that the original seal was broken when I collected it and they would accept responsibility and exchange it. All was good though, so no worries.

In the Virtual Game Cards menu I only get a 14-day warning when selecting 'Lend to a Family Group Member', but no 14-day warning if I select 'Load to another console'. I only had to do the physical, get the consoles close between the Lite and 2019 Switch one-time.

It might be easier in the long run to have them build up their own account/library. In that if they ever get another Switch then they'll have this malarkey to deal with too.

I just came across this video, a work around with the virtual game cart problem!

Ah OK this is the online license setting you were on about.

I think for me I'm going to set re-org my Switches on Sunday so the 2019 Switch is the main & the Switch 2 is the secondary, or vice-versa. And then the Lite and OLED will just have to play physical games - which to be fair is most of my Switch 1 games. I was going to go all-digital on Switch 2 but this does put me off a bit.

Even playing the upgraded BOTW, the battery drains pretty quickly, but it looks and runs so much better.

2hr 20mins from 100% to 0% playing Mario kart

I wonder how long it lasts if it’s plugged into USB A? I’m thinking about a long haul flight and keeping it going a bit longer or plugged into an external battery while sat out in the garden.

Edit: based on the 10 watts mentioned above it would just last continuously. Also for my 20100 mAh battery that would be up to 20 hours.
