*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

Didn't pre-order this but decided to get the mario kart bundle from Amazon on a spur of the moment yesterday.

Years ago I had every console at launch, now I've just got a powerful PC and this. I did keep a few of my old switch games though, so backwards compatible will be good.

Essentially HDR is bad in portable mode (a limitation of the screen) and pretty good in docked mode.

Query regarding HDR setup on OLED. when first docked, it wants to perform the obligatory make the left logo visible exercise. On my TV, I kinda had to go hard left to make the right logo disappear with the left logo barely visible. What are others experiences?

Oh course HDR is bad, it’s running an edge lit LDC which cant do proper HDR.

I had a go hooking it up to my ultrawide monitor last night. It wouldn’t do 1440p, only 1080 and 4K were available to select.

2hr 20mins from 100% to 0% playing Mario kart

I didn't do anything scientific or actually time mine... but I'd been playing it in tabletop mode with my 5 year old son before he went to bed.
I sat on the couch a few mins after 8pm, the Switch 2 battery at 56%, and played MKW in handheld mode until almost 10pm.
On the second battery low warning (5%), I completed the race I was on, then took it upstairs to bed to plug it in. It was at 3% at that point.
I'm sure I got over 100mins out of that 53%.
I felt the first half of the battery seemed to go down quicker than the second half

I'll be back on it again after the kids go to bed tonight, so will try again and time it.

My OG Switch is lucky to last 2 hours - the battery in my daughters OLED must last double mine!

In the Virtual Game Cards menu I only get a 14-day warning when selecting 'Lend to a Family Group Member', but no 14-day warning if I select 'Load to another console'. I only had to do the physical, get the consoles close between the Lite and 2019 Switch one-time.

It might be easier in the long run to have them build up their own account/library. In that if they ever get another Switch then they'll have this malarkey to deal with too.

Ah OK this is the online license setting you were on about.

I think for me I'm going to set re-org my Switches on Sunday so the 2019 Switch is the main & the Switch 2 is the secondary, or vice-versa. And then the Lite and OLED will just have to play physical games - which to be fair is most of my Switch 1 games. I was going to go all-digital on Switch 2 but this does put me off a bit.

Looks like you can use 2 consoles “equally” without any of the 14 days lending malakay. Lets hope they don’t change the T&C soon, because the alternative is for my sister to have her own account/nintendo online sub.

Hey guys the Switch 2 is arriving from Amazon today, quick question on system transfer.

Do all the games that I have on my Switch oled get transferred over to the Switch 2 automatically.

Reason for asking is that I have got a 512gb card in the oled switch and won't have enough space in the Switch 2 to copy them over even with a new 256gb microsd express card.

Not worried about downloading them again as all my saves are backed up in the cloud apart from Animal Crossing.

Cheers All

I needed to download them all again.

Not in my case. It only transfered system settings and saves as far as I could tell.

Both my Argos MKW bundle and EE MKW bundle arrived with the seals broken.
One of them was in form fitting brown box, the other was just in a grey plastic bag. I didn't actually check which was the Argos one, and which was the EE one. The one in the grey bag had some pretty bashed corners on the MKW box. I hid the one with the better box immediately, as it's for my sons birthday in August. Turns out I didn't need to pre-order one in April to make sure I got one... but the way console releases go, you can never be too sure! I'll maybe take advantage of the damaged seals to get a screen protector on it, and have it tested, charged and setup etc before he gets it.

I read on Reddit yesterday that Nintendo had released a statement to the stores, and people collecting them in-store were being advised that there was a quality issue with the seals - causing most of them to break in transit.

If you do a full transfer at initial set up, it copies everything, old demos, all saved games. It is advisable to do it this way because some games like Pokemon don’t have local saves. If you don’t have games like that then you can skip the transfer and just log in with your account then download the games you want but you will run into my problem earlier about running 2 of the same game on 2 consoles.

You will also need to download them all again, personally not a problem for me as I don’t have many games.

No, the migration process is quite fast because I believe it just moves over accounts and save data and then all your games will be on the home screen and get downloaded in the background. Shame they didn't enable a cable based transfer method for speed.

It only transfers saves and settings. Games and apps will need redownloading. For me since I had <256GB install on my NS1 it just redownloaded everything I had installed there onto my NS2. It will probably ask you what you don't want download or you'll have to go round to each game/app and manually cancel after you reach the final step in the transfer process.

Managed to mess up my screen protector install, can anyone recommend one they are using? I was looking at the Spigen with the template but it's £25!

I linked it a few page back, did it first time. I did do the hot shower trick first though to eliminate most of the particles in the air first.
