Ive tried to play through this a few times, once at around 0.6 and again at 1.0. I kind of get to a point and I just feel somewhat overwhelmed and give up

The later parts of the game do scale up ridiculously. But there's nothing wrong with having fun and then bailing out.

Anything other than new objectives will be subject to the same argument, they had to release the game at some point it was in early access for a number of years and was perfectly good upon release at 1.0 and anything QoL that they have added is just that and none of it was needed for release.
I didn't really write that clearly, I meant it would be nice to have more objectives in 1.1 and expected the current QoL to have been in 1.0.

I was playing co-op with two others so got through it fairly quickly, without rushing. I don't think I could have done it myself without also being overwhelmed to be honest.

This is it for me. I played solo and enjoyed my time but didn't finish all the tiers. The simple act of talking through each step with someone else would have been enough to keep me going to the end.

I understand the maths involved in balancing things and getting the right stuff in the right place but at a certain point it's not so interesting a challenge for one person unless you're really locked in.
