First of all I will not be playing games so will use on board graphics like I do now so all I want is a very fast machine for browsing :)
I'll also be doing music and video editing.
I will be adding my own monitors, 2x 3TB HDDs.
I've learnt that I need a certain processor with a K on the end so onboard graphics work.
Every CPU I've had since 1988 have had heatsinks/coolers with them so will one come with the 14900K?
If not can you suggest one please, I will not be overclocking ever.

This is what I've come up with to hopefully last me until I die, any suggestions appreciated.

Case https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kolink-kla-003-midi-tower-case-black-ca-053-kk.html
CPU https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inte...t-lga1700-processor-retail-pro-int-00798.html
PSU https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aero...plus-gold-modular-power-supply-ca-23t-ae.html
Memory https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...6-6400mhz-dual-channel-kit-mem-crs-05114.html
Mobo https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...-1700-ddr5-atx-motherboard-mot-gig-03572.html
M2 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...olid-state-drive-with-heat-sto-crs-01683.html

Could I get away with this PSU for that system?
Are heatsinks needed on my M2 if I'm not gaming?

Bloody hell that's clever how the pics come up.

not quite, and you're better off with the 15th gen intels, 13/14 gen have degradation issues so would probably avoid if you want to keep this long term
and a better PSU lol
what is your budget? i could add it up from your components but CBA

Around £800 judging from the parts listed.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £794.89 (includes delivery: £7.99)

+ Case would come out at around the same, not sure if he really needs that level of CPU performance if he's been getting by on a 17 year old rig.

Edit: Intel really isn't my forte, so there might be better motherboard options etc.

yes there's RGB, and no, you don't need to use the RGB bling-bling vomit if you don't want to. the case fan lights can be switched off, the cooler rgb doesn't need to be plugged in.
latest gen intel (15th gen)
z890 mobo with wifi7 and all the connectivity you need (except spdif - if you need let me know, or if you use multiple monitors - this board only has 1x DP output)
64 gb ram
2tb nvme ssd

Hell no :D

These CPUs use massive amounts of power at stock, nothing like what CPUs used prior to 8th gen. Air cooling can barely handle them, so one of the box coolers would have no chance.

The non-K/KF CPUs (i.e. non-K and -F) do still come with heatsinks, but they're really just bundled e-waste. The i3 and lowest-end i5 are the only CPUs I'd want to use a box cooler.

For the LOLs:

The minimum air cooler for an i7/i9 is a peerless assassin, but they're only suitable for light/medium usage, otherwise you'll need to make a lot of adjustments to the fan curve and power limits.

I'd also echo the above, go for Core Ultra instead, since 14th gen may be unreliable in the longer-term. There are users on their 2nd and even 3rd RMAs, but Intel only recently posted their latest BIOS fixes, so we don't know if they can finally fix it.

If you did still go with Intel 14th gen, I'd get a much better motherboard than this one. It does at least have a heatsink on the VRMs, but it is really meant for i3/i5 CPUs.

I’m trying to find a sensible analogy but struggling.
easy:

So if you're not confident with the gen 14 CPUs which CPU do you recommend?
265K, it is a decent price and so far as we know, these CPUs are safe. It performs pretty good for productivity and is manageable on a mediocre motherboard and air cooling.

The 285K is too expensive for the small bump (the 265K has 8 P-Cores and 12 E-Cores, the 285K is 8/16).

If your editing work is mild/infrequent, then a 12600K/12700K would be fine too, but your budget seems to be bigger than that?

14900k with an aerocool PSU? For web browsing? I’m trying to find a sensible analogy but struggling. The 265k systems above are way bettedor.

I might use Word and Excel also :)

Seriously I like to be prepared and some of the stuff I do with music and video does need a lot of processing and if I can cut down on thumb twiddling I'll be happy.

I don't think the 265K will disappoint, it's a solid general usage/productivity CPU for the price and should see some pretty hefty uplift over what you had.
