NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Here's a list of noise measured from a few 5060ti and most of them seem to be in stock with OCUK

I think the 3 fan cards fit in the Formd T1 but you should double check.
The Palit infinity 3 and Zotac Amp are louder but 30db is still not loud
It might be worth paying a bit over budget for the ASUS prime if you are really concerned about noise.
Thanks for the recommendations. The prime seems to be discounted at the.moment albeit you have to pre order. Oc has it for 450. Probably a bit much that

well....i just installed "Tainted Grail" on the PC, and again, im getting a lot of frame dropping and stutters.. both with and without DLSS.

I have a 9800X3D in hand I was going to return but am thinking I might fire that in?

It cant be the GPU as the same happened on the 5080 I returned and upgraded to the 5090.

Drivers can be dodgy as well. I just tried to fire up Cyberpunk and it won't load, first time and had the card a while.
What CPU are you using? 9800x3D is pretty good for gaming. I've certainly not had an issue.

9800X3D is only ‘pretty good’ for gaming? Damn, i got scammed. What’s better? Surely there is something, no? ;)

Anybody else finding they've got near-constant anxiety about the melty connectors thing? I just nearly crapped myself after noticing a burning plastic/electricals smell while in-game.

False alarm on this occasion. In other news, one of my neighbours is having a really bad weekend with his car.

But this is getting a bit wearying now.

TBH if it's genuinely worrying you and you've got a 5090, drop it down to 500w. 5080 & 4090 are low enough power consumption that it will be very likely fine so long as the connector is well seated.

I'm running with an undervolt that normally caps the power draw at around 480w, but even so... I just can't trust this card. With the 4090, I worried for the first few weeks then largely forgot about it, so I'm not sure why this one unsettles me so much.

The context is I'm trying to select a GPU for a new build for 1440p gaming.

I was watching this video earlier and there seems to be a contradiction:
HUB> 12GB isn't enough, 16GB should be minimum
also HUB> 5070 looks like a good buy in the uk

What's your take on that? Is it reasonable to buy the 5070 on the basis of value, or is any price a waste of money because 12GB is/will be obsolete?

My take on this is it depends on your use case. If you want 4k max then yeah the 5070 might not make sense

I just got a B grade 5070 for £420 for my son. I've no intention to fund 4k gaming for him. 1080p or maybe 1440p monitor for xmas and he is set for a long time. He doesn't need all ultra settings. He can slowly dial down quality as time goes by. Just Like he has had to do with the gtx970

It is reasonable to say.

The 5070 is pretty competitive on price (other than the VRAM). It will need compromises on settings sooner than a 9070, but their grunt will age similarly @ 1440p in the longer-term.

Personally, I'd say a 5070 is a 2-3 year card, whereas a longer-term option would be better if it was a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT.

Sounds sensible. 1440p is still the sweet spot. I wouldn't suggest a 4k monitor unless you have 4090/5080/5090 tbh.
