EV general discussion

Well I don’t know I’ve haven’t used all forums so can’t guess what’s best can I?

The sandwich floor of the Buzz will probably hurt it over a traditional camper but then it’s an EV

Not a great start 2 days into running an EV , that's generally how these ones work once you've got the RFID card speaking to my colleagues although even they have had the odd temperamental one.

How are you finding the MG4 so far?

How soon are you thinking? Maybe worth waiting for the PV5 to be released, as I wouldn't be surprised if the price of used Buzz drops somewhat

One of the dealers I use has been sending me stuff about the PV5 (Cargo) - in darker colours like I'd go for I think it probably looks better than the Buzz though the Buzz does bright and colourful better.

So approved used ID Buzz are dropping below £40k, the missus is considering chopping in the Discovery 5 for something a bit more economical now we don't have any farming duties to worry about (we've got some real big bills coming up for it so looking at all options). Basically she asked me to look at something EV that has a similar footprint or a little smaller compared to the Disco to see what the options are. She quite likes the look of the Buzz (as do I strangely). But I've never driven one nor been in one yet.
Reviewers love the ID.Buzz, looks different..

Just avoid the 'life' trim, it's poverty spec at its worst..

Other then that, the Style or 1st edition are OK and be brave and get a nice two tone colour..

Does anyone have any real world experience of the ID Buzz? If so, thoughts?

Good size inside. Ideal as a van or mpv. Not a camper as it just isn’t one on the SWB version. The battery takes up floor space too. I Used one for a few weeks when they came out and was a novelty as no one saw them before. Was fun around Newquay

Drives ok for 2.4ton (shorter geared than my born with same motor. 89mph top speed ) but obviously they have a thirst for electrons as they heavy and shaped like a brick. Won’t get over 3m/kwh in a run.

OK not EVs but when you compare to something like the Vito L1 or Elgrand, etc. they appear to be so much more versatile and make better use of space - as above I don't have real world experience of the Buzz to compare but I've enough experience of these kind of vehicles in general to have a good guess.
Not sure it’s clear what he wants it for to be honest. Vito L1 has two/three seats if a van, isn’t Ev and appearance a little dull. So maybe the buzz is better if you don’t need every bit of space and may be cheaper ? And you don’t look like a airport taxi

Obviously what suits different people and what they actually want is another thing but as a life style vehicle personally I question it compared to the alternatives - or what you might get extra going to related vehicles - it seems behind some of the options in terms of it looks like it would be kind of cramped vertically (unless you went for the California option which doesn't seem readily available) and less versatile.

Yeah but it could be good for camping where you sleep in the tent, or want space for the dogs, or the kids bikes inside the car, or you like festivals and want a trolley in the boot etc etc.

I like the look of the buzz. It drives great and doesn’t need a noisy diesel going through the gears. Always got attention and would be a Great car for a family of 5. Vito has no appeal to me

It isn’t a camper van based on experience which is what the question was after I believe.

Really liking it so far to be honest, more comfortable ride than the Ibiza it's replaced although that might be purely down to the smaller wheels and more rubber.

The use of piano black finish on bits you touch is slowly driving me mad but I'm going to put a layer of wrap over the gear selector which is the main bit I'm noticing and the LKA while not as suicidal as it sounds like it may have been in earlier versions is still pretty crap and tries to point me into the other lane a little too often.

Other than that everything feels good, drive is nice and it's just generally almost relaxing wafting along on electric. Once I get the home charger sorted so that headaches gone I'll be very happy with the change.

No but these kind of vehicles are aimed at a more multi-purpose lifestyle vehicle which are more practical to live out of for a day than a car, the Buzz is a bit more practical compared to some of the options if dealing with narrow streets and/or back lanes, etc. but IMO a little more compromised when it comes to versatile use of the space where even a few CMs can be a big deal.

So we’ll be using it as the family car, we’ve got a very active 2 year old and a huge 6 month old. My wife will literally throw everything in the car and go off for the day, the Disco has actually been really good for that but when I’m driving it there’s little space behind me which is stupid for such a big car.

I like my creature comforts so won’t be camping in it.

Assuming you mean in terms of fingerprints and smudges - I'm not entirely sure what product but the dealer put something, I think a Scotchgard product, on a couple of my vehicles which does prevent it for like 6 months or so but does need redoing after a few months. (Personally I just give it a once over every now and again with Autoglym vinyl and rubber care if it starts getting bad).

Perfect for this application if you ask me. They are wide though so parking can be fun. But sliding doors make that less of an issue.

Leaving your house to sleep in a car never really makes sense to me either
