$120 Billion Bank Subpoenas GamersNexus

Incorrect, my dislike of him isn't manufactured, it's borne of his constant need to be the policeman of the tech industry, and this goes back many years, he's constantly looking for fights with everyone, for his own ego. He's taken on so many people over the years and it's very clearly gone to his head, so much so that he's started his own channel for it.

I stopped following him years ago, every now and then he pops up on here (like the LTT thing) and I have a little say about it, now again with his subpoena, and it seems that every time he appears again, it's for the same stuff. Whinge, whine, I'm right, hit subscribe, etc.

Just examine what you are saying carefully; nothing you just said about him is actually factual. It is solely your negative interpretation of his motives or actions, which are totally manufactured in your head and what you feel about him.

If that's how you interpret my post then have at it.

See how this works ;)

Does he need to?

For your statement to be factually correct, yes he would need to. Other than that, it is exactly what I said; a manufactured negative opinion solely based on your feelings.

GN as far as I can tell, are trying to aid the consumer vs unethical practices by large organisation/corporations. Similar to what Martin Lewis does - so based on your own statements and sentiments Martin Lewis would be called a whiny bitch who constantly needs to be the policeman of the financial/commercial industry.

Don't forget you were the one who said:
Don't get me wrong, he's usually right,

Which perfectly encapsulates my point. You are not forming your opinion of him on whether he's right or not, nor on the content of his work but on some other abstract i.e. length of his hair, sound of his voice etc. (who knows?)

This is where my opinion comes in; the problem is not people like him who are ostensibly trying to help others, the problem is mainly people like you who manufacture reasons to denigrate them.

He reminds me a bit of cycling mikey. Technically about right but also a bit thrush.
At least GN is a technically right ass to billion dollar corporations on behalf of consumers, Mikey does it to regular people.

I do think GN is being sensationalist with the capitalone subpoena, it sounds like capitalone asked everyone for all the details of the affiliate revenue losses. GN objected and was successful in those objections. I don't see a problem here.

So are you suggesting that if GN is doing the right thing so to speak, he should be liked by default?

I would disagree with that notion.

Sure GN is going up against larger bodies under a banner of consumer right and interest. I can see that as a good thing for the consumer.

Do I have to like him and the manner he does so ? No. My thoughts align with some previous comments where Steve’s persona and the manner in which he has handled some issues I think were quite frankly poor and really eroded my opinion on him.

Is that me manufacturing a reason ? No. It’s opinion based on own observations.

It comes across as if you don’t think that should be allowed?

I'm most certainly not saying that.

I'm saying we can judge/attack people for a variety of reasons but to call someone a whiny bitch when you already admit that they're mostly right in what they say seems strange to me, to say the least.

I think it's something Martin Luther King said, something along the lines of judging people on the content of their character... in a similar vein it would seem better to judge people on the content of their work, not some other abstract.

I like GM and anyone who is standing up to big corporations or just generally doing anything to help tech consumers (who I think generally get a rotten deal) gets my thumbs up.

I used to dislike the overly long videos and ‘ramble-on’ presenting style, but found many vids insightful.

More recently, I really don’t like the way he speaks so brazenly about the purported ill intentions of others. His whole ‘journalistic integrity’ schtick was maddening, because it wasn’t journalistic at all - he was being hyper emotive and really laying it on too thick, rather than sticking to the facts and letting the viewer make up its own mind.

Seems a case of needing to ‘pick your battles’ to me, he came off far worse in his back and forth with Linus IMO.

When SB put his Linus video out he demonetised it, when Linus put out his reply to SB/apology vid he had sponsors in it, which I believe he later removed after a deserved backlash.
Tells me all I need to know about their characters.
That said I haven’t watched either for some time, so I’ve no particular pony in this race (I do own some very high quality GN drinks coasters though :) )
They both have their place in the tech world, both are successful and best of luck to both.

Just because someone is a "whiny bitch" doesn't mean that they are wrong on the matter. You can be both whiny and truthful simultaneously, they are not mutually exclusive.

As for GN himself, I struggle to take him seriously after his woeful handling of LTT debacle. He had a chip on his shoulder which clearly caused him to be biased, yet he tried to portray himself as being neutral and doing this for the good of the community. Since you want facts, He was decitful both in the portrayal of himself and the information surronding LTT. If you knew what to look for you could see all the signs of a hit piece.
