Clarkson's Farm

Just started the 4th series 1st episode and whilst I know Clarkson scripts everything, the young girl is a touch to far. She knows her stuff obviously but they might as well have had the script in her hand whilst filming.

Do they though, Both Clarkson and Kaleb have said this isn't the case. They just let the cameras run and its part of the reason they've decided to take time off from filming, everyone is exhausted.

The words may not be scripted in the way a traditional TV show like a Drama is scripted.

However, the overarching story being told and individual scenarios absolutely are. A lot of what was portrayed were absolutely more than one take, particularly the more ‘informational’ sections.

You can just tell from the way they flowed and talking points were landed.

Magic of editing and all that.

More than reasonable for the show to have a pre planned direction, themes and means of getting to those, the program wouldn't be coherent otherwise.

Exactly. I’m not saying it is a bad thing that the show is mapped out in advanced.

I’m just pointing out it’s inconceivable that it isn’t.

If they were just shooting from the hip with no plan, it would be boring and no one would watch it.

It's entertaining none the less but bits where she's in his car and he's saying stuff outside and she's calling him an idiot etc. It's all put together and planned. Also when Jeremy happens to see Caleb doing the harvesting without him, coincidentally having said definitely call me. It's very well done but they definitely plan everything beforehand.

Not aimed at anyone, a generalisation.

Do you enjoy it?

Yes.

Does it matter if it’s partly scripted or at least if things are set up?

Of course it doesn’t. It’s an entertainment show, does it entertain?

Yes.

What’s the problem?

Who are you to say it doesn't matter that it's scripted as though that's a fact of life? That's just your take. People like / enjoy different things. If people don't like things being obviously scripted, then you know it's ok to have and share this opinion in discussion forums about said program.

Absolutely.

It’s a discussion forum. That’s my opinion, discuss.

I can enjoy 90% of a show but dislike the jarring realisation that if I only notice 10% maybe much much more of it is scripted.

I hope that there is so much good content that the gaps and story are just crafted with some filler that you notice.

Some if not most of the enjoyment, and it was the same with Top Gear is that they are genuine.

The best bit have been the interaction and emotions between Jez and Kaleb, Gerald, Charlie and Lisa.

I don't want to have to think that was faked.
