S2000 owners thread. 9,000rpm of goodness in here.

That sounds quite reasonable to me.
It's a cash price, I thought it sounded ok considering the level they were going to take it to.

But my only concern is once I do that, I'll think (surely the bonnet needs doing, and then go back further etc. but yeah the bumper stands out to me, don't know what everyone else's here is like. Mines got 50k miles 2004 so 21 years old so it's to be expected, just stands out when you wash it and get close. From a normal distance you can't really tell.

Tempted to take them up on it though

Mine is fine with 18k more miles than you. I wonder whether it's been resprayed int he past or something.

After all my house selling / buying dramas things are back on track and having sworn off looking for one until we were in the new house I of course went out and bought one :D

2009 Berlina Black with 66k on the clock. Two long term owners with stacks upon stacks of history. In the last few months had a full service, plugs, valve clearances, all fluids and alignment. Last owner also had an OEM front lip and high spoiler fitted. Was never overly keen on the high spoiler but it's grown on me and imagine I'll end up keeping it. Very well sorted car maintenance wise however the paintwork is a bit of a mess which will need some serious attention in the coming year however on the plus side no corrosion. I know I've let myself in for a world of hurt with Berlina black.

Going to tidy up some interior bits and pieces first then next year I plan on getting an exhaust, either Milltek or HKS SSM, high flow cat or decat along with the LHT airbox mod and a hondata tune. Also want to paint the calipers back to OEM silver. Don't think they deserve to be painted red when they are so small.

Long term probably a suspension refresh and a set of Ohlins.

Took it for a blast up to Inveraray today, perfect weather for it and it feels oh so good to be back in an S2000. Along with my Mountune 235 MK8 ST I'm a very happy chap.

£15800. Exactly what I was going to pay for the RNBP one that fell through last time. May seem expensive / overpriced but I feel values are only going to continue to creep up and I don't want to miss out owning one again. It really does feel like such a special car. I will NOT be selling this one!

Sorry forgot to add, 66k mileage.

Lovely. Inveraray is a cool place too. Visited a couple of years ago.
Prices seem pretty static at the moment. I could sell mine for what I paid for it I think. Same mileage as yours but an 05.

I'm actually considering selling at the moment. I know, I'll regret it but unfortunately my old man is only getting more unwell with time and I'm having to drive back and forth to Devon every couple of weeks which is not pleasant in the S2000. Annoyingly, I have to use the S because Monika always has the CX5 at the weekends for gym, shopping, wife stuff, etc. I'd get a 3rd car but we don't have the driveway space for it.

Sorry to hear that, hope it doesn't come to that. Sure you'd regret selling up but then if it's for family issues then I guess that always takes priority over a car.

I recently had similar thoughts, but I’m also not one to be without a special car day to day and there’s not much that come close to the S2000 for fun, that is comfortable on the motorway, without spending much more money.

If I do sell, I'll get a Mustang 5.0 GT convertible. It should give me the aural drama, roof-down pleasure, and reasonable motorway manners I need. Really tricky to find in the spec I want (post 2018 facelift, manual transmission, magnaride) so I may end up just buying a new one and spec it how I want. I prefer the previous shape though.
This is only a possibility at the moment. Still nothing set in stone. It will all depend on how my dad does over the summer. If he's not getting better by Christmas then I'll have to sell. Winter + 200 miles of motorway + S2000 is not a nice experience.

I have plans for the S over the summer. I just took delivery of two, brand new, official Honda, lower control arms complete with bushings. I've also got the complete hardware kit for those so will be fitting them soon. I've also odered some carbide-tipped saw blades for my electric sabre saw so I can get the old ones off.

Sorry to hear, I can understand why selling may be a good idea for that.

I'll be honest, I have thought that I'd let mine go too if needs arise. Nothing as serious as your reasoning, but we are looking to move so any help I can get with that takes priority. But for now I can keep hold of it, just in early talks of getting our house on the market. See what happens

That's beautiful, what a buy. Congrats. Have you owned one before?

I have the Miltek. Been on the car for maybe like 6 months now. Really like the tone. Louder than expected when first turned on/idling until it reaches temp and then it calms down considerably. Going through a small tunnel near work always brings smiles

If I keep hold during the aforementioned move, I'd like to address the suspension ( to firm at current) and maybe address the stone chips etc to the front area.

I'm so lazy though. I bought speakers ages ago, still int he garage. And recently the shift rebuilt kit and that's just sat there too

Was going to tackle both today but way too stuffy out there

Yeah I had a 2004 Silverstone Silver around 12 or so years ago. Sold up due to buying a house but always wanted another at some point. The new house I'm moving to has a decent garage so looking forward to making a little project out of it.

So you still have the standard cat on it with the Milltek? I was thinking of going for a decat and an exhaust then going for the hondata tune.

You'll struggle to get it through MOT with a decat. Even with a high-flow cat it's a mission to get them below the legal limit

Yeah I just went with the exhaust system. No decat , for my needs just wanted a nicer tone over stock but wasn't really chasing anything else like performance gains etc

Need to address my suspension now really, will put the stone chips on hold.

I just want to make it more comfortable to daily drive but without breaking the bank too much.

Previous owner just put Tien S springs on the OEM shocks and I feel that's the issue

They offer an attractive drop but sacrifice the ride quality imo.

What would be my best bet? Softer springs on the current shocks? Affordable kit like the Koni yellows or something else?

Taking suggestions :)

I know they will never be the most comfortable car, but I'm sure I can do something about this

There is really only one option and I think you know what that option is.

Softer springs will cause it to hit the bump stops. You want harder springs with less damping.
