NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Very similar to my current solution, window open, curtains closed to try and block the sun when it's directly facing the window in the afternoon, and a tower fan blowing in from the doorway.
I also keep the lights switched off for as much as possible during the day and night, they emit heat too.

Does VR work in any game? If so what headset etc do you need? Is it worth it?
Please do some research and start with some basic "what is VR videos.

Meta Quest 3 (not the 3S) is ALWAYS the first recommendation for a VR headset for noobs with 400 quid or so to spend on a headset.

I was playing Victoria 3 (latest version) earlier, 5090 FE undervolted to 0.895v hit 77c on the chip and 92 on memory with peak draw of 542w. This is on Nvidia's latest drivers.

I don't think I can have a non liquid cooled card going forward, so impressed with this one and I'm not interested/patient enough for doing full custom loops etc. Thought I'd get buyers remorse as it wasn't a big upgrade from the 4090, but actually in terms of temps etc + performance, all in all it is enough to keep me happy.

ROPS ok, if it doesn't catch on fire then I'll consider it a success.

Same tbh. Depending on what else you have in your case and also how big your case is, it can be difficult having a GPU AIO in but managed to squeeze mine in fairly comfortably with it blowing (very) hot out the front of my case, annoyingly, not fair from my noggin.

Might try swapping my AIO rads around so CPU is blowing out the front and GPU is blowing out the top but so much effort as would have to swap fans around on the CPU one so the wires are hidden

Couldn’t be without air con in my gaming room. The difference since buying the 5090 is that I now need it on for every gaming session, regardless of the weather.
Surely you wouldn't need it on in autumn winter though or do you have a really tiny room that heats up quickly?

As it was so warm over the weekend I locked my 5090 down to 4K/60 so it sipped power instead of guzzling it.

TBF, it made a difference.
I've been doing that in games where framerate above 60 doesn't matter quite as much - for instance, Baldur's Gate 3.

Every little helps, right? :D

Playing KCD2 and I’ll be honest, I couldn’t tell the difference other than the GPU was running a little quieter.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but we are on page 867
Has anyone personally had any issues with the power connector?
I wouldn't mind picking up a something 5XXX wise next year or maybe a 6XXX if it comes out which I'd imagine will still have this mandatory connector?
But I do worry, in a sods law it'll happen to me, factor.
I see so much online moaning about it but I'd like to think that's just exaggerated nonsense to gain views?
