what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

lol the prices are all over the place…£225, £260…£299, £223.08?

And I paid £261 but with discount voucher of $10 taking it down to £253?!

It’s barely out the door…

I think Shen is selling it at a flat $299 fee (what it should be), whereas Topping is doing their own conversion exchange rate. Because I only see the $ dollar amount. That means you are probably not paying VAT on this at Shen. So I wonder if Topping's one when its in £ pound includes VAT.

Hmm either way I think I can shift it at a bit more than what I paid if I don't want to keep it so not a huge deal breaker if customs don't pipe up and it slips through lol

I’m surprised there is not a single YT review out there for the DX5 II still…I think the first batch should be with people now.

I can be one of the first to review it then, be a good comparison against the X9 and Creek 4040 A as well, I suspect the sound will be very similar if not identical knowing the typical Topping house-sound, it's the fit and finish and features that will differentiate, with the X9 getting more features through FW updates continually whereas with Topping/FiiO etc it's very rare to see new stuff added after release, if ever?

Remember, I want credit having coined the phrase "Baby X9" first if you use it in your review! :p

Good reading for filter usage:

NOS isn't what it's cracked up to be under critical analysis, and an OS filter shows to be the most authentic.

I'm 61 so my ears aren't as good as they were but I my feeling is that flipping back and forth trying to compare the differences between DAC filters generally results in acute gear-itus and a failure to enjoy the music that your supposed to be listening to in the first place.

As i mentioned before, on the k11 r2r nos mode was just a bit of a mess imo, it could still sound nice overall but crashing cymbals for example were indistinct and just noise, os mode cleaned them up a bit but it still wasn't aswell defined as my other dac which is an ess chip.

Too hot to do anything!

I'm envious of people who like IEMs. Again I've been using the Zero REDs and just can't stand them for more than 30mins in the ear. Although I think the lighter the better in this heat.
Crinacle Zero Reds are chunky boi’s!

They are on the large side. You could try a much smaller high grade iem like the Simgot Supermix 4 (excellent Harman curve) or the Letshouer S12 Pro (excellent planar iem for the money) or the extremely cheap but bassy fun of the KBear KB02 with inbuilt bone conduction?

These are all much smaller and easier to wear for long periods.

True, I've read that before, but I don't think it's the size more the act of having something in your ear. I also had a pair of Tin T2 Pro's as well and that was reasonably equal discomfort.

So maybe another design would help, but I've a strong suspicion IEMs and me don't mix. It's similar to how that Youtuber; Badseedtech describes his reactions to IEMs.

Can understand that. I have many pairs including Reds and those I listed plus others. Comfort is the critical thing I agree over sound even. I also find getting the right tips makes a HUGE difference.

Fully respect what you’re saying though and agree some just don’t get on with them.

I bought the Chu 2 as my spare for work, those have REALLY big ear tips, like WTF are these moment when I first saw them. Not very comfortable but at least they are cheap.

Yea, there's a chance that better tips, or a different model might work. But both of these came with different silicone tips and the foam tips and they are all uncomfortable. I'm OK for about 30mins and then an ache starts. Tbf normal over-ear headphones irritate me too, but I've realised if I keep the weight to below 300g it tends to mean they irritate me much less. Which is why I gravitate to lighter headphones/sets.

It does feel like there's more innovation, value and choice with IEMs atm. Plus they are super easy to drive.
