Did it blame you?Quietly mentions my dog stepped on a bee.
Did it blame you?
What you say is true, but the clinical definition of a disorder is where a condition is so bad that it impacts your (or potentially other peoples') ability to have a normal, effective daily life.I don't even view being a narcissist as bad. To an extent we all have to have some degree of narcissism. Just don't be like Narcissus and love yourself so much you turn into a flower.
It can be, yes.Is it gas lighting when they accuse you of gas lighting?? Just asking for a friend with two toxic siblings who exhibit narcisstic behavours and cannot keep relationships (none in last 20 years for them both) ??![]()
It can be, yes.
Something narcissists often do is claim you're doing to them exactly they're actually doing to you, often while they're doing it. Playing the victim and deflecting at the same time.
Not just the domain of narcissism, but for me people are usually lying or denying to themselves through other people rather than being deliberately deceptive. Doesn't make it okay. As noted previously, it can be difficult, painful and even damaging for the person to deal with people who lack basic self awareness to such a degree. We all can can fall afoul of self serving bias or egocentricity, but there is a point at it gets too much and its useful to give it a clinical name.
Most people are like this.
It's not a disorder. It's just being a human.
We are terrible.
