Nitefly’s first watercooling build

Ive got the leak shield I will be putting it into my build with out the ulitube got to put it in line with my fill port with a inline res to act as a air buffer from the main distro well I think it will work

Going to be doing a rebuild of my loop just waiting for my heatkiller and monster 420 to arrive. Watch out for my build log next month hopefully

beware that you dont overfill the loop as the shield will suck liquid into the membrane. Its a pitter to dry out and the alarms will do your head in

As to flushing I found a barb fitting. Some flex pipe a funnel in the bath was much quicker

Would be interested to find out how well the soft tubing (if you're going to use it in the final build) copes with the partial vacuum. Whilst I was thinking I'm at the design stage and can lose the soft tube, I also just realised I plan to have the Mo-Ra externally on QDCs....and that means a soft tube link.
It leaked when i tried it to test vacuum thumb over tube but it might be that i had not tightened the fitting enough but still made me think to isolate the soft part using a valve

Have had an unused Leakshield for a while, but don't fancy messing with a hardline build! I think soft tubing is ok provided it is sufficiently thick (OD > 1.5x ID) so it doesn't collapse, but all my fittings are for thinner stuff so I don't fancy replacing them all either!

Will keep an eye on this, maybe I can convince myself to go hardline :D

Yeah I think with decent soft tubing
Should be ok
Ek zmt 16/10mm is pretty solid stuff
16/11mm isn't its very flimsy
Despite its only a tiny difference on paper

But if you can find some primochill lrt somewhere
might get it on amazon etc imported from usa or somewhere
That stuff is the toughest/hardest soft tubing
I have ever seen
I used to shove the end in boiling water
To get it onto fittings

At least that would save messing around with bending tubes I guess!
Yeah, you can't really bend it yourself - at least not cleanly, reliably and without burning your house down. JayzTwoCents did bend some with a blow torch on YouTube....but freehand as I think you're talking something like 820 - 1260°C!
You can get it pre-bent with a single 90° bend. The 16mm OD seems the best option as it has an 11mm ID - the rest are smaller in ID than I'd like. You can cut it with a diamond wheel in a Dremel but you need to be careful about the dust created - you don't want to breathe it in.

@Mcnumpty2323 I think I'll try some of the ZMT 16/10 when it comes back in stock - it's a third the price of Norprene! Now, if I can just find some QDCs that'll fit....and have bulkhead connections....and be in the right colour!

If can't get 16/10mm quick disconnects
It's possible to use three quarter inch quick disconnects
With 16/10mm tubing
Gone brain dead what size that is in metric lol
I am old enough my brain sometimes jams in imperial mode
19mm or something like that

I used the three quarter inch koolance quick disconnects
For years on 16/10mm
No issues including with ek zmt 16/10mm
Just need to dunk the end of the tubing in hot water
To make it go on easier

Leakshields can be a royal pain in the derriere- just remember to leave at least 10% free in the loop- otherwise it will alarm like a fatherless son and cause you no end of ballache
