Just to be clear… You’re saying the car that has taken four pole positions this year in qualifying — which is by definition a test of exactly how fast a car can go over a single lap — you’re saying that’s a tractor? :o

They seem to know what they’re doing with it though. They gambled on the skinny wing for quality and it worked. The weather played against them for the race. It’s not like they’re throwing their hands up in the air wondering where it all went wrong.

Indeed. Also, Max completely ****** his race with the big mistake he made as well.

It was a race decided by mistakes really (other than McLaren who had an obviously dominant car).

Hulkenburg got third as he drove a pretty much flawless race, and Lewis got 4th because he didn't make as big a mistake /spin as Max, Russell and Leclerc etc did. He also managed to clear Russell and Gasly relatively quickly.

All the rookies except Bearman and Antonelli retired from big accidents/mistakes too (I know Antonelli retired, but it wasn't his fault as he got rear ended).

Gasly was very good today as well.

I know you’re not having a dig but that belittles Lando and Oscar’s race a little bit. Besides Oscar’s SC incident I don’t think either of them made any mistakes (?) in what were extremely challenging and changeable conditions.
The RB car this year (by this metric) is pants
Disagree. It’s no more pants than the Ferraris and Mercedes that are also just as changeable from race to race. Just because Max doesn’t have the fastest car across all gamuts doesn’t mean it’s pants.

Good decision by RB to run lower downforce - they were obviously banking on no real rain during qualifying and it paid off.

Shame there were mistakes by Lewis, Oscar and Norris that kinda handed it to Max. Edit: I could kinda tell Lando and Lewis were going to be trying just that little too hard today.

Redbull need to give max a blank cheque.

Max is in a totally different league!!!

Of being way above the talents of anyone else on the grid!

Which proves he can beat anyone on the grid...pure raw talent is Max.

ChatGPT - show me some posts on this thread that aged like milk.

Yeh, they were both very good too..there were mistakes still though , but not as bad as the full spins some of the other top drivers had.

My point was kind of that the McLarens were so far ahead, they had time in hand to have a few big spins and still win. A luxury everyone else didn't have.

The downforce (or lack of) may have helped get him the pole, but he was off the track so many times during the race it was clearly not something he could handle. Had it been dry, his driving skills could possibly have made up the difference.

Well no. The fact it was cooler and wet meant that with less downforce he couldn’t generate heat in the tyres and therefore grip. If it was dry and warm they would have been laughing.

But anyway, I don’t really need to be talking about that anymore.

GG Lando, home GP win — what a dream. Let’s hope this sets him in the road to truly challenging Piastri. I still think he’s naturally quicker, he just needed more consistency.

Best result on the poll for a very long time, great to see the British GP delivering a good race.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can have rated it a one or a two but hey ho.

I feel certain people should give up on watching it because they just come and moan about it every week.

Aside from a slightly slow start to the race due to SC/VSC's, it was an absolute belter of a race with tons of action and changing conditions. Couldn't really ask for much more.

Got an 8, maybe being a touch generous given the flurry of safety cars but the race was enjoyable enough to stick with, which is saying something. The rain makes such a difference to the spectacle.

Thought the penalty on Piastri was harsh but can see a world where Verstappen piles into the back of him and I think the penalty was given with that in mind.

Delighted for Hulkenberg to make it to the podium, superb drive all day from him.

Exciting race :) Nice to see Lando get a win at his home GP. Was a real mess at some points, didn't agree with some of the race director decisions but overall think it's safe to say that Silverstone delivered yet again. Hope anybody who went had a good time!

Hülk breaking his podium duck got me looking at F1 records. Weird to see that Lewis and Alonso are actually tied on the most ever race finishes (both on 333) despite Fernando having 45 more race starts.
