EV general discussion

with the glass roof on the tesla do these use more energy than most to keep the cabin cool.

( current summer heat - seems short sighted that UK housing heat pumps aren't reversible & ducted air )
Thanks for the questions again. Good addition

The question isn’t really ‘is the refresh worth the extra’, it’s ’am I happy to be paying more depreciation for a newer car’.
The refresh is objectively better in every way, except it doesn’t have indicator stalks. This is 100% a dealbreaker for some people.
It would 100% annoy Mrs Sk8, although I am sure she we get used to it in time, she would just deem it completely unnecessary ‘innovation’ and she doesn’t have time for that kind of nonsense.

haha yeah that's true, yes i can afford it, but i'm to cheap to eat that kind of depreciation :/
£22k with minimal cost to upgrade is far more palatable
i guess i can always get a '24 model a few years down the line (pre-luxury car tax)

Self aware ?
I'm sorry if I've offended you in some way but this is a forum, forums are places to ask questions and share knowledge and you are not this forum's police either.

I'm no longer going to waste any more of my time in replying to you and I suggest you do the same, if you do find my posts offensive in some way, you can simply ignore them. Like I will do yours from now on.

Back to the important topics at hand. Pan roofs. Yes it takes longer and requires colder temps to bring the temp down in my i5 with the pan roof shade open than it does with it closed, again, to teach people to suck eggs, its the same in winter, more heat for longer if i open the shade on an icy cold morning! :D

They are strange - you dont feel the heat really though them but if you touch them you can pretty much cook an egg on them.

Unfortunately in the world of low cars and minimal frontal area roof blinds are becoming less common.

Has anyone here had a 7.4kwh charger installed?

I bought one to replace the 3pin granny charger I am using. I am going to be doing the install myself, and getting final connection, sign-off by a sparky.

Just keen to see how/where the 40amp rcbo is installed, and did they route the cable internally or externally? I will speak to sparky before I order stuff, but always good to see what others have!

Brace for impact - i d like this as its super neat. No one cares about the box situation.

Its since been treated to an actual eletric meter door rather than the upsideside Gas one with lourves! Good to keep the domestic fuel station dry

Is that consumer unit allowed to be in the box?

I was reading ENA guidelines, and it is not supposed to have any extra equipment installed in the box, in fact, I had planned specifically to avoid such a scenario!

I had mine installed by a company as part of my salary sacrifice scheme. Then a few months later the chap from Octopus turned up to fit the smart meters and wanted to condemn the whole box/installation as unsafe! He got permission from the powers that be at Octopus to put everything right as i was already on a complaint to them about the length of time to fit the meters, he did take pictures of the original though to report the installation company to whoever they report people too!

DNO we’re fine when inspected, it’s bolted to my house so they aren’t really bothered after the fuse were his words.

Depends on the roof, not all IR rejection coatings are equal (and some don't even have them at all if they have a proper shade). Our glass roof has no physical shade, but I don’t find it gets terribly hot. In the previous heatwave, even after sitting in the sun for ~10 hours the glass was only warm to the touch, but it wasn't really hot. This is good because I was quite worried about that before ordering. In reality I can’t even tell it has a glass roof from a climate perspective, it's pretty impressive how much it reflects the IR away from the surface.

Ford in the bottom ranks of advertising agency choice, their advert V being used during itv tdf coverage .. should have been Squeeze,
compared to excellent add for R5; I-pace had had some good adds, but I only saw them after the fact.

[ Another thought on the pan roofs - would those w/o shades immediately be a bad choice for babies ]
