"Hundreds" of Met Police armed response officers hand in the weapons after colleague charged with murder - Chris Kaba Shooting aftermath.

Makes a big difference in this situation, the guy was basically fighting them off on his own. A small man is still going to be a lot stronger than a 100lb woman and less easy to damage.

100lb is ~45kg in grown up numbers, so... No, I don't think it would make the slightest bit of difference :p

100lb women should not be trying to arrest men, for their own safety. Does the police training involve sparring with boxing gloves? If not might be worth introducing it so they at least know what a punch feels like.
I do have sympathy for her, however sitting on the floor wailing like that just shows she should have never been a front line officer in the first place.

Demolition man's "We're police officers! We're not trained to deal with this kind of violence!" springs to mind.

The first video of the guy headbutting and assaulting another person that led upto the event I hadn't even seen before, proper filthy scum. They really milked the situation prior to the other videos coming out. They should be given life sentences.

It shouldn't matter, but people with no regard for the law will have no regard for a police woman they can easily overpower.

Part of me wants the police to just smash situations like those above before it becomes a police safety issue. It's a quick slide into fascism when the police are tooled up though.

In the past there was a minimum height for men. Anyway men are way stronger than women and as such women aren't qualified for the job

I really hope common sense prevails here and these 2 lovely, pillars of the community are made an example of:

I remember MPs like Yvette Cooper throwing them under the bus. Who’d want to be a copper?

Pleading not guilty, so need the book throwing at them. Upto 16 years for GBH, although many are lower, pleading not guilty is a reason to ramp up sentencing

Apparenly this applies: If someone is charged with multiple GBH offenses (either Section 18 or Section 20), the sentences may be served concurrently (at the same time) or consecutively (one after the other), depending on the specifics of the case

Yes that is a bit small for mixing it up physically with potential criminals.

Although Bruce Lee was apparently only 145 lbs...

Yea 145lbs of muscle and years of sparring practice.

You can't do rugby without meeting physical requirements for your own safety, it should be the same for police. If you have someone who is going to fold with a bit of a push, what's the point

I know someone that went from weapons to a deskjob, he wants to leave the force. He said he had enough as he feels cant do his job properly. Always sees the same guys in and out of the station.

Heh. Talk to security at a large shop, they'll have "regulars" who weekly, monthly, will visit to steal tens to hundreds in valuable goods.

Security may even know their name, may even have appeared in court to give evidence, may even have seen them jailed for a petty amount of time. And yet there they are still stealing.

For anyone interested, this clown has been charged with assault

PC Zachary Marsden, PC Lydia Ward and PC Ellie Cook had entered the airport car park's pay station area following reports of a male fitting Amaaz's description headbutting a member of the public.

Prosecutors said Amaaz had resisted as he was grabbed from behind at a car park ticket machine, before the prolonged violence broke out.

He was seen to floor PC Ward with a punch to the face which broke her nose and also knocked PC Cook to the ground.

He was also alleged to have punched PC Marsden from behind and then had hold of him before PC Cook discharged a Taser device.

I don’t care much for disingenuous public apologies by politicians when the press give them heat but for undermining the police and siding with blatant criminals, it’s the least they could do.

Shame they didn’t show the full video on day 1. It told a very different story.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, I'm not sure their gender makes a difference here. Or would it be different for a £100 man?
The average woman is about as strong as the average 13 year old boy.

There should be strict physical capability requirements for frontline officers in all but the quietest of areas. If that filters out 99.9% of women, so be it.

The police were too close when they approached, if they maintain a bit of a distance then it may not have kicked off or they would have been in a better position to control the outbreak.
