*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [and AirPods Pro 2nd generation]) thread ***

My 1st gen Airpods are slowly starting to give up the ghost, specifically the right one when outside where it just suddenly dies after about 5/10 minutes.

Looking around, seems like the safest bet would just be the base 4th Gen model at around £129? ANC has never really something I've cared about...

The new firmware which is due to be released later this year has a feature which will stop audio playback if you fall asleep. Probably one of the most useful features they have added.

The Prologue app for eBooks lets you set a timer, and I love that.

My airpods pros have started randomly disconnecting for a millisecond and then reconnecting again, which pauses my audio, or disconnects my phone call audio to my phone. Looks like I'll be using that Apple Care..

I’m looking at replacing my 1st gen AirPods. They’ve served me well but the battery life isn’t what it was but they’ve had some really heavy use over the past years. I think the jump to Pros will be a big jump. I’m looking forward to noice cancelling.

Not sure when gen 3’s are out but can’t be far off, might be worth waiting a tad more.

I (usually) take good care of my tech and in return it always lasts a long time and in excellent condition.
Imagine my horror when I discovered my Airpods 4 were in the washing machine!

At the end of the cycle the two airpods were sat in the rubber trim around the washing machine door, having been washed out of their case.

I've dried everything out and to my surprise it's all working perfectly!

Had a look on Google and found someone who has done this 4 times (wtf!) over a period of years and their Airpods also continue to work.

Quite impressive that they're not completely dead!

I need new cups for my AirPod Max and no way I'm paying Apple £75 for them. I'm going to get some £20 from Amazon. Hopefully they are going to be OK.

Spends £500 on headphones but won’t spend 15% of that to get them back up to tip top condition.
I mean fair enough but if something cheaper is decent quality why pay more? Anyway as I said I can easily return it if it isn't good enough. I just wanted to try one of the alternatives before splurging £75 on ear cups.

My daughter picked up some from Amazon, and tbh I can't really tell the difference with my Apple ones tbh. I'll ask her for the link.

At first use its not always obvious the quality is poor. Take Apple watch straps as an example..
