It’s done, now to bring in the dei hires and hammer the nails into the coffin of another once popular show.Cleaning house?
I wonder how they’ve managed to substantiate the allegations against Torode in order to uphold them? Presumably they must be very confident (recording, multiple witness statements, etc?) the allegations are true before publicly stating it and sacking the staff accused?

John Torode sacked as MasterChef presenter after racist language claim upheld
With the show in crisis, BBC director general Tim Davie said no decision has been made on the next series.www.bbc.co.uk
“A BBC spokesperson said: "John Torode has identified himself as having an upheld allegation of using racist language against him.
"This allegation - which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace - was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by the law firm, Lewis Silkin.”
"DEI hires" is an American thing, I dont think we need to copy that. It’s done, now to bring in the dei hires and hammer the nails into the coffin of another once popular show.
No, you don't need to be very confident.
The standard of proof for employment matters is balance of probability. This a world away from criminal proof.
So it could literally be as good as 2 people saying they swear on their mum it happened and 1 person saying nuh uh.
They don't even have to prove it happened.

I did wonder that as it seems like it would be incredibly easy for a couple of folk with a grudge against someone to make an allegation of a “racist” comment.
Somewhat concerning IMO the press are allowed to use words like “substantiated” and “upheld” with regard to an allegation if there’s no actual proof?

He can try, but IIRC Masterchef is independently produced and if the production company has dealt with the complaint properly and in accordance with HR/best practice he'll have a fun time of it.Torode can still take them to an employment tribunal or legal defammation, whilst beeb believes it's showing due diligence to govt.

As far as I can see, no one here has suggested that he be reinstated? But better to keep the man with constant complaints about inappropriate behaviour is it? Would that be anti woke somehow?
Sort of master chef crossed with Benny Hill?I kind of hope Tarode and Wallace bring a MasterChef copy to Amazon now.
It sounds to me like they're using it as an excuse to not renew his contract, he hasn't really been sacked has he just not renewed.Im abit confused about the Torode side of this. He says he has no recollection of it, but then the BBC say he acknowledged that it happened?
I then interpret the article to say the 'victim' recalls the slur being said and then he apologized immediately. It should be a non-story really.
Then again the BBC love stories about themselves when maybe it would be netter to report and let it go.
