Pimax Crystal Super

I have a quest 3 and a rtx 4080. I exclusively play iracing and AC and maybe a couple other sims here and there. I'm very happy with my setup but I'm always in the market for more clarity, who wouldn't be

Is the pimax super a noticeable upgrade over a quest 3?

Any modern true display port headset would be better than the quest 3 as there is no compression I have a Quest 3 and a Varjo Aero even the PSVR2 looked better really when I had that I also feel a lot of lag with the Q3 due to the compression/ decompression

My sons just ordered one who has a 4070ti super. We tried mine on it over the weekend and was surprised with how well it ran.
Medium 75% res, MSAA low at 72hz with a decent amount of headroom left. It looked, and played amazingly well. If you go to 90hz you have to drop to 50% low res, and at that point it's debatable if you already own a quest 3 although personally I'd still go with the pimax.

Nice. It's good they're doing this extra checking, if they are in fact doing it. Call me cynical but life has made me so. I just wonder how long it will actually take to ship.

I ordered a comfort top strap for my new Crystal Light last week, and even though it's in stock, it wasn't 'shipping'. Sent an arsey email and lo and behold, it shipped later that day.

I just think Pimax are full of **** and are quite incompetent, which is a shame as their hardware has a lot of potential.

It's my first venture into the Pimax brand! i'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as i like thier ethos even though it can cause chaos sometimes but at least they are trying to stay ahead of the curve?

lets see how forgiving i am when i have to stump up annother £700 or send it back

Keep a close eye on the pimax reddit guys, now more and more people are getting the supers there's some very unhappy people. It's been kicking off today.
Hopefully some early quirks.......but this is pimax.

Hmmm, going to have a look on the old Reddit. Got any specific links? I find Reddit hard to navigate.

I'm really glad I cancelled my Super order though, as I'm loving my new Crystal Light now I've got it dialled in and the eye strain issues sorted. I also got a few 'rebates' from Amazon for some hassle I had with the order, and also eventually got the Reverb G2 former owner rebate for Pimax Prime membership offer too. It's therefore only cost me £784 all in total, and I have the backing/ security of Amazon if anything goes wrong. V happy with that price for what this headset delivers! Is the super twice as good at twice the price? I highly doubt it.

I've done an autistic amount of testing and tweaking over the last week and for me, the eyestrain/ 'off' feeling I was getting was ALL to do with the facial interface pad and mechanical IPD setting.....

I've done a bit of custom modding and swapped to the thinnest facial interface I had from VRCover for my G2, and it's now waaaay better. My IPD is in fact ~64 (as I always thought and the calibration is not wrong on this headset). And you must get your eyes in the very small geometric sweet spot both laterally and forwards/ backwards for what your mechanical IPD actually is, and set to. Otherwise I get awful eye strain and subtle geometric distortion.
If everything is physically set up correctly (mechanical IPD and your facial interface distance/ position) there should be NO NEED to do any software IPD tweaks in the Pimax Play Advanced section, like I thought you might have to tweak before. If you feel you have to do this, you either have not got your mechanical IPD and facial interface set up right, or you have a super twisted asymmetrical face like Sloth off the Goonies. Or something may very well be wrong with the lenses. Just my opinion obviously but this is what I've found after thinking my lenses may be faulty, but then doing a lot of testing.

I've also come up with an ingenious (if I say so myself) subtle counterweight DIY mod using little bendy thin lead weight strips you put on golf clubs that also pushes out the back pad to grip the base of your skull better at the same time - So the headset is perfectly balanced and more secure/ comfy. The PCL is slightly front heavy out of the box despite what all the reviews and youtube nonces say. If anyone wants the details let me know....

Headset, controllers or both? What symptoms you have?
Headset, controllers tracked perfectly, things I tried..

More light
Different USB
Roll back to piplay 1.37 supposedly more stable
Piplay 1.4.4 again fixed tracking seemed even worse
Magnets on usb cables
Drop to low on piplay, game setting as low as possible
72hz 90hz and 120hz hitting all with constant fps
Noughts and crosses tapped to the wall in electrical tape to contrast the wall.
Cameras all show in windows so I know tracking cameras are good.
Allowing piplay folder exemption from defender.

It manifest as juddering screen, fpsvr and Iracing show constant fps

You pretty much tried everything. That sucks dude.

You getting a replacement or returning it for a refund?
