Terrible Jaguar re-brand

2june - lost purchase opportunity I guess - who knew
King Charles has been seen for the first time in his new £170,000 electric BMW i7 M70 xDrive during a trip to Sunday service at Sandringham.

It is the latest public move in the 76-year-old monarch’s quest to overhaul the Royal Family’s fleet in a more ecologically conscious direction.

Last month, King Charles added a £160,000 electric Lotus Eletre to his multi-million-pound car collection, expected to be used at one of His Majesty's country estates.

Damn

Doesn't really sound all that drastic at the moment.

The UK-based firm said the reduction in management roles, which amounted to 1.5% of its workforce, would be completed through a voluntary redundancy programme.
Just an opportunity for all those half considering retirement or a career change to bring forward that idea with a bit of a bonus pay out.

They stopped selling cars. They literally haven’t tried selling one car yet…

Exactly, how can they possibly stay afloat? Whilst this could well be a case of trimming the fat, I wouldn't be surprised to hear of bigger layoffs in the near future tbh. Their current business isn't in any way sustainable.

It still amazes me how a company with so much history, class and prestige, who have contributed so much to the ‘car’ and made some of the best looking cars on the planet has fallen from grace so much. An utter **** show. What a bunch of clown, it’s embarrassing.

as they said on r4today the jaguar cars gong out from the european zagreb plant would still have the full trump tarif, until they do a deal.
(not surprising he will be hunkering down at windsor .. although seems he is seeing kier in aberdeen soon)

Chaps, I hate to bring ‘facts’ to the ‘conversation’ but JLR just posted its biggest ever profit. I’m sure they’ll be just fine.

After yesterdays road tax thread it seems motors is becoming akin the daily mail comments section.

It’s not like JLR don’t know how to build a product which an older and younger equally like and buy in their droves (well those that can afford one) - the LR side of JLR is doing just fine.

It’s all about the image these days and Jag has a bit of a sticky image that it’s for people who think a tweed flat cap and leather driving gloves is the height of fashion.

It would be worse if they did nothing any it just disappeared, because that’s ultimately what will happen.

It’s not really any different to the re-imaging which lotus is currently going through. That’s another brand which would be dead if it didn’t get into the SUV game.

The new Range Rover Electric looked to me to be a bit of a test bed for the new cars. Autoexpress says the ride and comfort for it as improved on the old Vogue. At £150,000+ they're in the Jag catchment area as well.

JLR is two brands though, not just RR. RR might be doing extremely well, but Jag may as well just be a footnote at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I really hope this works for them, but claiming that Jag is doing extremely well isn't really the whole picture.

I never claimed Jag as an individual brand is doing extremely well. I’d suggest a re-read of my post if you think that’s the case.

I literally said the brand is in decline in my post and they needed to do something to stop its impending death.

I was responding to posts like yours throwing shade linking a small voluntary redundancy at JLR to the firms rebrand of Jaguar and implying the poop is about to hit the fan.

As I said JLR literally just posted their biggest ever profit. The company is doing just fine and doesn’t need your advice.

It's amusing watching you get so defensive over this. My post was merely musing that Jag isn't in a good position and that this might be the start of bigger things to come. Dunno why you've decided to go all in on it

Because it’s complete unsubstantiated drivel based on zero evidence that’s why.

The defensiveness is because you are responding to things in my post which simply aren’t there.

You are the one going all in based on nothing but your opinion. They did a brand relaunch and aligned to a new car. They haven’t launched the car yet

Daily mail headline about 96% sales drop in a year they don’t sell any cars through choice (some just slipped into 2025)

I remember now, it was you two fine folk who went nuts in the EV thread because people dared discuss anything that might not be all unicorns and rainbows in the EV world. That thread seems to have found its feet however and there's a lot of reasonable discussion taking place, both for EV owners and non-EV owners.

Does this mean you're left with a hollow hole in your little hearts where you have to argue with people trying to have a discussion?

Is discussing the dramatic change of an incredibly influential and historical car manufacturer in the UK banned until you two green light it? Can you post up your "permission to respond" application form please, I must've missed it.

Get over yourselves, both of you. This is a forum, people can discuss whatever the hell they want.

I will however concede that I misread @b0rn2sk8's post and responded according to that misperception, so I will happily rescind that comment.
