Robocop Rogue City

The standalone DLC came out today and it's excellent, more of the same with some updated graphics options like advanced Lumen reflections. Performance is also excellent and it's smooth.

There are a few traversal stutters though even though the game does a shader pre-comp at the start.

I'm downloading this now, really enjoyed the first game and I'm legitimately looking forward to getting into the new one over the weekend.

Given how the developers have handled Terminator and now Robocop, I'd absolutely love to see them do a Judge Dredd game.

I'm playing with a controller and it's more fun that way, feels more like a cyborg because of that lol, also robot rumbles go brrr.

Used some footage for a controller review

I wont get a chance to play any until tomorrow evening, looks great from that clip!

That said, I cannot do FPS games with a controller, it breaks my brain. I think the last time I played any sort of shooter with a pad for more than five minutes was back on the N64 when Goldeneye was all the rage.

Got to love all this RT goodness. Naysayers be gone due to the sheer amount of RT gracing us in our games now #RTON

I have noticed a weird display bug if you play in windowed borderless, it will show 3840x2160, but the actual image is a bit smaller, so be sure to play in full screen mode which actually outputs a 4K image. The former still renders a 4K internal output but displays a lower res image which is weird, I guess this is a UE5 bug as have seen the same in some other UE5 games when playing in windowed borderless.

Tbh I think a lot of peoples issues were how much of a strain it put on the first generations of hardware to be capable of it, we're only just on the cusp of the average pleb being able to genuinely enjoy it and it still comes with the price of upscaling which many hate (I personally don't mind it, it certainly makes 4K viable and I do most of my gaming on the TV now).

That and it was really poorly implemented in a lot of games, forced software rendering and other weird decisions in a lot of titles.

Also make sure to enable RTX HDR for the maximum visual experience #RTXON

Yup amd getting their act together with RDNA 4 and FSR 4 has helped big time change the perception since people can actually use it now on the lower and mid range gpus. That and of course, the very fact that a lot of games don't allow you to turn it off with more games and game engines going down this path means people just have to put up with it whether they like it or not.

Perf seems fantastic with even just dlss balanced and no fg, of course though, FG is required to make the most out of the 240hz screen though! Think x3 MFG will get it maxed at the 240 limit.

I get up to 218fps with DLSS4 4K and epic settings if I use FG, or 130fps+ without FG, remember the overhead to the base fps with FG on is pretty big which was demonstrated by Vex the other day, it's like 105fpsa base when FG is on whereas it's 130fps+ without. The new Steam overlay tells all now so there's no escape for fake frames :o

Of course I like a silent GPU when gaming so game is locked to 110fps to taste as it's a cyborg game not CoD so don't need absolute fps :p

Edit* Steam overlay with FG on and locked fps off:

Quite cool that finally a UE5 game runs at 97fps lowest base even with the FG overhead applied.

Yup that was a good watch his video, it's funny though as he ***** on it so much like others but then goes on to say it runs pretty damn well and does improve smoothness and latency hit isn't that big/noticeable (depending on your fps and the game) etc. The important point was how it is being used to hide the small improvement or in some cases, even reducing gen on gen raw perf, which is a very valid point but as he said himself, "work smarter, not harder", it's a necessary tech whether people like it or not.

Personally, I'll always use FG/MFG even with a base fps of 60, it simply just looks far superior for motion clarity and visual smoothness on a 240hz oled screen, which for me is the whole point of having more "fps" and one of the reasons for owning a 240hz oled monitor in the first place..... Only time I wouldn't use FG is in PVP/shooters online with a base fps less than 100 but I practically never play those kind of games now.

Robocop is a great example of good visuals and running well and whilst you don't need FG to run it well, for those on high res. or/and high hz screens, it is still required to get the most from your display.

I'm just updating my nvidia graphics driver and I seem to recall the smooth motion is now a thing on 40xx cards.

Anyone know about this and if it's worth it?

edit: Maybe they haven't yet applied it to 40 series cards. I found the setting but it's greyed out.

Works amazingly well smooth motion for games which don't support nvidias dlss frame gen. Robocop has frame gen officially though so not worth it here.

So I'm confused about Unfinished Business - I thought somebody said it's on Xbox gamepass, but only Rogue City comes up
I don't have gampass but saw a news article saying that the first game was coming to gamepass on the same day as the release of the new game, but that's not on gamepass
