Tried sitting on few bikes

Kymco VSR seems ok but bit too low seat height
Honda CBF seems ok but again too low seat height
Sinnis adventure bike, taller bike but not too tall, feels more comfy. Newer bike
Yamaha YBR125 similar to the kymco and honda, again feels bit low

I'm about 5'10" unless I've shrunk

Insurance for the Kymco, Honda are ok. Siinis- an extra £300

I'm 5' 8" and my YBR felt on the small side but not excessively so. Adventure bikes are fashionable right now, so are more attractive to thieves, hence the higher insurance.

Say if I get insurance for a bike that I'm buying on private sale, I turn up to buy it and after seeing it/test ride, I decide not to buy it.

What happens regarding insurance? Do I then phone them up stating I didn't buy it, so they cancel it? Or is it contract so I'm stuck with 12 months on that bike? Or can they can transfer bike details to another, say if I buy different one in the same week?

Sort insurance once you've looked at it and decided you want it, easy enough to do in 5 minutes on your phone.
Much easier than messing about cancelling or changing bike details, both of which will usually cost you.

This.

Dunno about other insurers, but Lexham wanted £70 for every change to a policy. Change of address? £70. Change of bike? £70. Change your shirt? £70.

Ridiculous really.

You can get a reference quote from Comparison sites (or directly from the insurance provider's website. I prefer the former) which is valid for 30 days from different insurance providers. Once you have decided to purchase the bike, you can either call that insurance provider and provide the reference quote number or use the reference link from the quote to buy the insurance. You don't have to buy it right away. You can ignore the quotes if you decided not to buy the bike you viewed, there are no fines for this.

There are no charges for getting quotes, but do it on Incognito mode of your browser or delete Cache once you have done a couple if you run the quotes in normal mode of your internet browser. The sites will flag your account if you run too many quotes in a short span of time.

I would advise to get the CBT out of the way first before investing energy and time on looking at bikes. CBT is valid for two years which gives you plenty of time to for buying and riding to learn real world experience and progress towards getting your licence.

Bikesure Keep the admin fee even if you cancel in the cooling off period as well and that's generally a large proportion of the actual price.

Just heard Mutt bikes went into admin . Dealers are still selling remaining stock.

I guess if you buy one break something can't get parts you are stuffed?

Not like a pushbike where wheels/brakes/gears are standardised.

Afternoon all - I’m after a mid range road bike for mostly city use and trips of up to 100 miles or so (2 up).

Been riding an MT-03 (2008) for last 10 yrs but tempted on a Triumph 400 Speed or Royal Enfield HNTR 350.

Anyone with any experience of either?

I’m also an ex 400/4 rider & any suggestions of anything that comes close to that ride would be more than welcome.

You could look at the Honda CB500X. Haven't ridden it personally, but Internet says they are really good as an A2 bike.

Looking at a bike with 815mm height, but I haven't sat on one that high. 780mm was fine

Can I use pushbike seat height as a guide? ok just set pushbike seat height to 815mm, I'm flat footed, with a bend in the knee. Bike is solid frame and forks.
