What have you done to your car today?

Annoyingly scraped the nearside of the van on the low wall on the side of our driveway. First damage done by me in over eight years and typically it goes back in a couple of months. Was over cautious avoiding the car of the nurse visiting our son. Notified insurance, unlikely any repair is necessary. Some days you just know something is going to go wrong.

Quick question (that didn't seem worthy of its own thread):
Who do people use to get reg plates made?

Just bought a personalised plate direct from the DVLA (I was cursed with 4 initials, so it's nothing overly expensive), but having never done this before, I was unsure of the process.

I now understand *how* to apply the new reg to the new car, but just need recommendations on where to get the actual plates made up.

You can get them made anywhere, and to be legal they have to have the correct markings, correct font and everything, otherwise it's classed as a show plate. Most dealers will print plates at competitive prices, always nice to have a dealer label underneath anyway instead of some random .com address.

Quality should be the same across the board for all legal plates.

Halfords etc will also print plates as well as loads of places on ebay.

You can buy them online, or go into your local Halfords or Motor Factors with the relevant paperwork and they'll make them up while you wait.

Search for @Diddums x threads, he made one recently asking the question

Whichever place is cheapest, lol. Unless you're going for 4D 4K ULTRACHAVHD plates.

I used these guys:

They said I need to send them a photo of the V5, but the plates arrived before I even had a chance so it's all just arse covering. Can't complain about the quality, was pretty impressed for the price. Just remember to peel off the protective film, or you risk thinking they're crap quality which I definitely didn't do no sir not me.

Much appreciated

Agree with this. I'd not bother with the effort on that disk as it doesn't look like it has much life left in it. I'd hold off until they need replacements, then paint the new hats with high temp paint.

its just the light, its not really like what it looks in the pic above.

the car was a used approved BMW purchased March this year.

the front disks are genuine BMW and in excellent condition, these are the rear in the pic, they still have lots of life left in them, but not in as good condition as the fronts, running your finger across the disk, there is no corrosion, no pitting or lipping around the edge.

Its just gone through a BMW inspection on a service with no notifications on the disks. However, it did get a notification on the rear pads which will need replacing soon

Thanks all, i will look at the advice about the wire, cleanup and possibly high heat silver

Was the rubber pre-installed on the box or did you have to do it? I hated fitting mine haha. Like the polished intake tube. Have you considered the Steeda throttle body spacer? Easy job to do and I do think I saw better MPG. :)

Nah, I had to do that myself. It was a **** and many curses were uttered.
I haven't looked at that spacer no. I'll have a gander now. I mainly did this for the sound and on that front it absolutely delivers. Love it.

Haha I feel you. :D
Cool cool - yeah it looks good so glad you love it.

I've had a look at that throttle body spacer. Seems like snake-oil to me but am willing to be proved wrong.
Yeah I only did it cause I had the intake off to swap. I did think it made it slightly smoother and 1-2mpg better off. I actually can't remember if I still have it or if I sold it. Might be in the shed. Lol
