EV general discussion

I was impressed with the new Model 3 too and got a similar response from the other half... "only a loon would buy a Tesla after what Musk has been saying" :p

Doesn't bother me that much, although it's not necessarily ideal.

Going to keep my current car for at least another year, then I'll think about it again... I think the Model 3 is the best overall package especially for the price, the supercharger network remains a game changer for many.

I'm quite surprised that a granny charger isn't included as standard on all EVs, considering the price of the cars!

It's something I did check when rummaging around in the boot of the EV I'm buying, it was there as well as a type 2 cable and V2L adaptor.

It's a bit like providing chargers/cables with mobile phones - there's a good argument most people don't need the 3 pin charger and those who do aren't too bothered about buying one that suits their particular needs.

I'd guess the majority of the 3 pin charging cables provided with cars rarely got used, maybe for a short period if a proper charger was waiting install or something.

Even if it's only £50 per car to supply one, that soon adds up across your entire sales portfolio if you're not supplying it.

She's replied! She reacted to it with a laughing emoji so she's obviously laughing with joy.

Keep an eye on my online status please, gents. If I'm not online again after today, it was nice knowing you all
Nice. Did you order a new or used tesla?

I bought a used model Y (2023) a couple weeks ago and been enjoying it (altho not used it much!), the place I got it from is taking it back to touch up some paint scratches and replace a tyre they should have sorted before they delivered it to me...

One thing I don't really get about tesla is the removal of indicators on the model 3 and the removal of the drive selector on new model Ys doesn't seem great (obviously just to save costs). Ive charged it twice in two weeks and the main reason for the first time was sentry mode /running the AC hard on those hot days :D

New Model 3 AWD. I would’ve been happy with the LR model but I wanted the upgraded audio
Nice, what colour? I'm liking my red!

I warn you though, the fuel price saving is negligible compared to the humongous depreciation costs. Guess that's already built in if you've got it on lease.

Picked up my 2022 ID3 Pro performance Max today. What a step up from the MG4, going to take me 6 months until I figure out all the toys though

First milestone, charging works :o
Nice one, did you manage to get the MG dealer to stop playing silly buggers with the mileage charges then?

I went grey as I’ve just had two bright blue cars and wanted something less noticeable!

I’ll worry about that in a few years if I struggle to sell lol.

How much that cost / pics?
£17,250 so only £400 than the broken MG but feels like a much more premium product. Will grab some pics tomorrow.

I did, we agreed to call it quits in the end and I dropped it off for a full refund.
Then less than a week later it's already back on their site "just arrived, undergoing preparation" for £700 more than I paid, no way they got it in with MG and fixed in that time.

General question - is it pretty much mandatory to have a smart meter if you want to have an EV? Is it bonkers to even consider having a wall charger installed without one? I presume it’s much cheaper charging off peak overnight. We’ve had multiple issues trying to get a smart meter installed due to the location of our current meter which is frustrating.

it's still going to be cheaper than public charging without one but yes you don't unlock the real worthwhile cost savings until you can charge at 6-7p a KW

What has your supplier said about the current meter location that prevents them doing it, and who are they? You 100% want a smart meter.
