Who else hates this guy (Gregg Wallace)?

This?

I don’t see the guy purposely taunting someone with the N word.

Anyway, point is, they don’t need to edit anything, the show is about the chefs and shouldn’t be cut for that reason.

He was larping a hip hop song, right?

Hardly:

i'm not debating the right or wrong of his actions - i was just countering the 'we don't even know what Torode did' post - because ultimately we do.

Correct decision to air the show IMO but as others say, damned if they did, damned if they didn’t.

The show isn’t really about Greg and John, it will live on for years without them. It’s my understanding Greg was replaced half way through off the back of this anyway.

I read it was a separate incident to the rap lyrics one.

Apparently he said it in conversation and other party didn't believe it was malicious - so it certainly doesn't seem like he was using it at face value/as a slur as some seem to be trying to pretend - which implies either some sort of misguided ironic use of it or merely the mention of it.

But we don't have futher details on that AFAIK so we don't in fact know what he did say specifically/know the full.

Seems quite correct to still show the episode, not exactyl fair on those who took part - frankly though it seems (from info we currently have) rather OTT for one presenter but fair for the other to have been let go.

No, this is not what happened, Telegraph 1 day later:

BBC just want the revenue from the show rather than write it off - even though they've dressed it up as concession to the participants. -
social media and the folks who were aggressed get to decide - LOL - netflix stopped house of cards.

telegraph hasn't even acknowledged/know what the context of the other accusations were - if they were racist (w/o enough witnesses) that would add to the weight of the one he was condemned on.

Ok, didn't see that but..
He said: “I recognise that some of my humour and language, at times, was inappropriate. For that, I apologise without reservation. But I was never the caricature now being sold for clicks.”
I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall to see what really happened. Of course I'd eat my words if there was genuine malice.

All the fake outrage is what gets me, by people that have probably said a hell of a lot worse in their time.

As others have said, the BBC are damned if they do damned if they don't. They probably wanted a clean slate after the Wallace fiasco.

It's hardly like this is a surprise, there's been dozens of stories of Torode being a nasty piece of work over the years. Racist and abusive comments to staff and others, but he got away with it because he was always smart enough to do it where there weren't going to be witnesses willing to come forward.

It'd be a better program with Gregg edited fully out anyway

Give it a while for them to fish up two people with contrasting appearances and personalities and see if the ratings agree.

There's plenty of potential for it to go down after its success with wallace and torode.

interview with upcoming series participant (who didn't take kings shilling / blood money ?) whose has been edited out because of gregs behaviour towards her -
and the bbc broadcast it nonetheless
[for those bbc refuseniks - ironically about same time there was a bbc3 programme about expose of instagram lifestyle investment scams ie. bbc could be useful for some vulnerable idiots
e: no it's not about Monzo ]

Wrong link ^ jpaul
just checked link it is right - it was in the middle 17" of newsnight I'd watched .... but maybe your X link has clipped it.

e: yes your link clips it .. but doesn't show rees mogg comments

e2: will be interesting how they introduce it - as interview also alluded maybe they get record viewing, but haven't seen any publicity yet,
they must have gone through it with a fine tooth comb to remove any double-en-tend etc.
