EV general discussion

Wait until you want to see the temps and adjust volume on the console sliders at night, as they are not illuminated.
Just scroll left or right on the temp on the actual screen for temp changes. Volume you can feel the ridges or simply using the steering wheel buttom. Dont really see the issue with not being lit, you dont need a indicator stalk to be lit you just find it with your hand. Never been an issue for me, but the next gen did light it up for those who have no feeling in fingertips.

Tip: tap hot and cold together on the slider and it turns on heated seat for that side.

Looking good from MG.
yes interesting - they're taking it to Musk, and SAIC can probably out economy's of scale him, multiples of his production, just need a factory in USA;
hatchback immediately makes it more practical than 3 & seal; the reviewer hasn't figured out that ev saloon height and rear foot space are an anathema.

In beneath the 40K luxury limit too, CLA unfortunately just the wrong side of that, and I guess the chancellor won't be changing that since new ev credit is linked in around 40K

It’s 4.9m long, shouldn’t be compared to a model 3 frankly, nor a CLA. Can’t argue with the VFM and specification there though, impressive.

4.1 tonnes is insane. Don't we have a limit of like 3 tonnes on our roads for passenger vehicles.

Mysteriously with EVs up to 4250kg is fine on a standard cat B, but there is no change for ICEs to "encourage adoption of zero emission vehicles". The classifications are starting to become dangerously arbitrary IMO.

Just think of the damage that thing will do when it hits another car. It will be like being hit by a small lorry. Scary stuff!!
Large motorhomes can be well over 3.5T, many are plated up to 4.5 tons and you need a C1 licence to drive them. There are thousands of them on UK roads already.

Once BEV editions launch I can see them pushing 5 tons.

As for the Escalade, the lack of spinners on 24” rims seems like a missed opportunity. It also costs £lol.

Is it actually 500 miles range? The official estimate suggests 465.

A lot of people driving motorhomes don't seem to have a clue what licence they actually need or know anything about weight limits, same goes for all the Instagram crowd converting merc ambulances which are plated at 4.25ton which need a C1 to drive..

Depends on when they got their license, folk mid 40+ probably have most on their license just off a standard car driving test, not sure when that changed, late 90s sometimes.

I seem to even have gained a motor cycle license on mine about 10 years ago.

I'm pleased I passed in Dec 1999, means I can't drive anything above 3.5T so I can't be asked by my employer to just jump into a 7 ton truck to do a delivery which, frankly, is absurd.

I was passenger to a guy who was asked to do exactly this and it was ******* scary despite him doing a very good job all things considered.

I have to say, that new MG does look very impressive for the money.

Whilst I applaud a company bringing out a ev that doesn't follow this simply awful trend of boxes on wheels an MG it isn't and looks are deceiving https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/mg-motor-uk/im5
