The England Cricket Thread

He does throw it up to a point but its due to the hyperextension of his elbow which is allowed within the rules. I think you can have an argument that some players who "throw" the ball can change their action but I don't know if Bumrah can stop his elbow hyperextending no matter how he bowls.
Didn't they make Mura bowl with a sort of cast to stop him whipping his arm through?

I want to be clear: I'm not saying he cheats or anything it just looks really suspect!

It's really sad to see the sorry state of West Indian cricket, they were bowled out for just 27 in their second innings against Australia. Granted it was a low scoring pitch but that really humiliating, at the rate they are going they risk getting grouped with the likes of minor test nations like Ireland, Holland and Zimbabwe.

Australia only made 121 in their second innings....

Forgot the next test was starting today, just tuned it. Won toss and put them in to bat? Huh. No team has ever won the toss, chosen to bowl first, and won at Old Trafford. Huh. Well, it's a choice I guess.

Stokes must like setting himself a challenge by winning the toss and electing to put India into bat on good surface every single time. I bet he's the type of gamer who always plays new games on maximum difficulty right out the gate.

That's a horrible looking injury to Pant. I hope he's okay, but I suspect he'll be out for the rest of the match at the very least. Four wickets + the injury makes this look not too bad for a first day, but I still question the decision to bowl first.

Update on Pant: he fractured a metatarsal, and has been advised to rest for six weeks. Reportedly he still wants to come out and bat, but I suspect someone in his team will be talking him out of it.

Edit: apparently not. Here he comes hobbling on to the pitch to great applause.

Reckon he'd try to insist he would bat by putting his foot down? Only to be told that he can't put his foot down as he's fractured a metatarsal! :D

I think England should be able to score 500 from this position in their first innings against this Indian bowling attack. I don't see any other result of this test match apart from a win for England.

With talk like that I assume you are an India fan trying to jinx us!

Finger crossed Root can pass Ricky Ponting's runs total this innings. He was just 88 runs behind him when he passed into 3rd all time and has had one fewer innings then Ricky.

Bit disappointing for the top three to all make good fifties but fall before they got their hundred.

With rain predicted for the next two days, I wouldn't be too sure it won't end in a draw.

He's just gone to 92.
