——The Official Battlefield 6 Thread——

I bet you still wont be able to host your own servers. or Browse an actual server. instead of the "join Plebs" button
I quite believe it. 2042 really drew my ire when I dropped into the same map 9 games in a row.

I loved the community servers in 3 and 4 that stayed up and stayed busy with the same, regular players on it.

I played BF4 last night the first time for absolutely ages. I'd forgotten how difficult it is, BF2042 is beginner level compared to this.
I can't see BF6 returning to BF4 levels to be honest. :(

I mainly play as a tanker, I'd LOVE the option to be able to lock my tank down so nobody else can get into it. The main reason being I seem to constantly attract lunatics that get on one of the MGS and just fire continously at absolutely nothing. Its like some type of obsessive tic where they just have to keep firing when there's nothing to fire at. Even if I'm in a battle and I deploy smoke to escape they're firing and helping give away my position by their tracers being visible to the enemy tanks coming out of the smoke screen.

Been this way for a while and i think partly this is the reason games are so crap now, These "influencer's" get priority access when it comes to testing and giving feedback and they really don't speak for the majority of the player base, Only for themselves.
A good game will still be a good game regardless of that though, BG3 flew loads of streamers out, did a few in "castle" special sessions with them etc, game still turned out to be awesome.

More recently, Arc Raiders tech test access was heavily leant toward streamers, was actually quite hard for nonstreamer folk to get access (I was able to thankfully) but it was still absolutely superb.

Its not necessarily the case that pandering to streamers for early previews = bad game, its more that bad game = bad game no matter what streamers say or to what degree they are involved and good game = good game no matter what streamers say or to what degree they are involved

Super nice looking trailer, I'm hopeful of a fun battlefield game, it look like it will be.

I think they've got something good going here :)

Everyone is saying they wish for the days of BF3 and 4, but what about the BF2 days?

Said it a million times on this forum, BF2 was the PEAK of Battlefield and online gaming in general :p
ONLY if you'd fix its shortcomings. Dolphin diving and Medics kinda ruled everything, making a lot of the classes useless. The problem is that its competition is CoD and we'll need an ArmA "clone" to make it fun.

Yes well I agree but I also accept it's never coming back. BF2's low latency fast movement and snappy animations is never coming back, it's now all about high latency slow "realistic" animations and physics - every shooter is doing the same thing. Also commander is never coming back

One problem I had with BF2 - far too much time spent running around taking flags without encountering the opposing force. Some maps aside that didn't really happen with BF4.

Sounds you played on a small server

But yes with BF3 actually they started adding corridors to maps to funnel players, so you'd have conquest maps where some flags can only be approached from one angle

I mostly played populated 32 and 64 player servers.

EDIT: Just found I've got a boatload of screenshots from the game I didn't realise I still had and don't remember a lot of it LOL.

I disagree! I think personally BF3 or Bad Company 2 were the absolute peaks for Battlefield games. I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours into those games!

Most people forget there was a limited view distance. There was no sniping people across the map in BF2, the view distance as only around 300m or so. The hit reg was sketchy at best too. A great game, but definitely of its time and what was capable back then. I suspect if anyone were to go back and play it now they'd find it slow and clunky and be frustrated by the draw distance.
