The Newcastle United Club Thread **No Spoilers**

Quite pleased with the Elanga signing now it looks like he's arriving for his medical. He always catches the eye and I think we can use him probably left, right and down the middle. I think he suits the way we play and Howe has a proven track record of improving players so can only see good things from him.

Club management have still left us short. We have lost in the last couple of seasons and without replacing all these first team footballers:
  • Kelly
  • Anderson
  • Wood
  • Wilson
  • Longstaff (likely)
I have an uncomplicated outlook on football transfers. Some would call it the Kevin Keegan philosophy. If you sell a player, get a better one to replace him. It's looking like we may get a new goalkeeper but I think we need a CM, at least 1 centre half and cover for left back. Although Tino aptly seems to be able to cover both flanks in which case need a RB then. I do actually feel we'll sign DCL but I'm trying to not get too excited about that...

We have just hired a set piece specialist coach’s Matin Mark. We just don’t score enough from them. Pretty darn good at defending them mind!!

Elenga also pretty darn good at them.

apparently some famous footballer just walked past my house (super close to stadium), heard 3 kids shouting for an autograph.

might have been elanga though, I'm almost certain I saw him walk past last week.

but it sounded like the kids said "ezi" but I guess could have been "ATy" ahtony elanga"
according to chatgpt Eberechi "Eze" Eze is in austria at a training camp so can't be him.

I just saw the back of the guys head as he walked off laughing on his phone. kids seemed certain he was a famous footballer though and I didnt hear the guy deny anything.

Howay the Suds! Who needs new players when we have a technical director with such a deep knowledge of the game?
Well one of his traits is data lead recruitment. The role above him will be important. The football director.

It’s a switch up from the sporting Director roles we went for twice that’s caused quite a lot of disruption behind the scenes.

We also still after a new CEO. These are all important roles with regards to recruitment.

Bout time!

our directors have been a bit of a disaster and our CEO has a major illness while still trying to do a job just these are are welcome addition.

Need get them in fast so they can sort this nightmare of a window

Just think if isak wants his move so bad he should hand in a transfer request and waive all his rights

If not then we'll pay you with a new bumper deal but it's needs to get sorted asap

Unless you are deep into your 9th decade supporting this club then fresh off the back of the greatest season in the life of most fans, the club seem to be quickly eroding last season’s euphoria at a rate of knots. No statements on the coming and going of players, no exec appointments just messing about in Asia in what is increasingly looking like a bit of a disaster and the release of a third kit even gaudier than the last.

I think Newcastles issue now is who do they buy. They are in that awkward position where they have a good team and upgrades on many of their positions is risky and expensive. You can't add mid-level players for much of an upgrade and better players are usually north of £60m at the moment. It could be a bumpy season if Isak does leave. CL is going to take a toll on the squad.

Newcastle have more of an issue of who will join rather than who to buy.

I would say its both. They need quality players but quality players have lots of options usually so you are competing with clubs that are more alluring. Theres little point in buying cheaper players though. They aren't in the boat that the likes of Brighton are. They can't buy cheap and develop and hope. They have expectations now.

It’s almost like the ownership are just bored now and cba.

Very strange considering the wave of feeling from the end of last season, felt like we were literally about to break into the “bigger” time with reinvestment into the squad.

But it’s almost the opposite, the club have just kind of stood still and done nothing really to capitalise on the great season we had.

We have managed to do miracles in the last few years and I think that will only last so long without serious squad reinvestments. Eddie Howe and the team can only go so far with the same group of players and we really haven’t got anyone of substance in the door for a while now… maybe Elanga but not enough

Every target seems to have turned you down though

Like Sesko, if Man UTD is a bigger allure than Newcastle right now, then you've got real issues.

The other alternative is you've never offered the asking price for these players despite having not spent money for about 3 windows

So I don't know what is happening really

I'm not a Newcastle fan. And yes, United are still a massive draw for a huge number of players. We are a way bigger club and a single season blip doesn't change that fact or the fact that Newcastle aren't as attractive. Would Aston Villa and Notts Forest have been a bigger draw than Newcastle if they got a few more points last season? Of course not.

Your league position the last season doesn't make as much of a difference as some people seem to think.

Not to mention the wages that are on offer at Man Utd are significantly higher.
This is half of the battles we’ve had this summer. Either keeping our best players, or trying for established talent - clubs we’ve been up against have more prestige- but just as importantly, they have a lot more money

That's where Newcastle are at though, there's no magic bullet. You have to buy the right players, improve them and sell them on. That's what Howe is good at and that's what he was brought in for. Keeping them isn't part of the deal... if it ever will be.

Even the bigger clubs do it. Letting players go when they want to go is part of the attraction. Not letting them go when they want to doesn't help you recruit the next ones.

We need to just get rid of Isak now tbh, I would never begrudge a player wanting a move to a bigger club to win things,

But the way he is going about it now it is a red flag for his personality tbh, basically just taking the *****.

We will miss his goals, but he is burning bridges everyday at the minute
