Ffs let the season at least start before yappiing on about replacing Amorim.

Why? Any decent organisation should be thinking about strategy and planning. Mind you, these are the same people who spent a load of £ for EtH then sacked him weeks later, so perhaps they're not thinking ahead.

In what universe is Eddie Howe being rated as an elite coach?
Get behind Ruben 100%. He will take us forward and if he can't I doubt anyone can.

We're not an elite club any more, we've tried elite coaches in the past.

If Howe finishes above Amorim again he'll have performed better with lower budgets over many years. Hence the question.

I mean, I’m going to disagree with this;

Since the GOAT retired.

David Moyes - Everton manager, never won anything or ever been considered an elite manager.

Ryan Giggs - hasn’t managed since AFAIK, think he maybe got a stint at Wales?

LvG/Jose - both well beyond it at this stage, the former got the job solely based on a WC where he and the netherlands ran like god. Football had/has completely past him by that stage - poached him from Spurs! Jose was very much on the downwards trajectory at that point in time that. He’s been nose diving ever since. Should have got him after Fergie retired. Other clubs were moving onto and moving style.

Ole, Carrick, Rangnick.

EtH - was he elite? I’m not sure he was, didn’t the fan base want Poch? Very much out of the blue IIRC. Got a couple of decent runs in Europe but I’m not convinced he was on the list of the big clubs. Maybe I’m wrong.

Ruud.

And we are at Amorim…

You missed off Ole ;)

Edit - you didn't.

I'd say LvG and Jose were, surely not at their peak but they were up there at one point. And it's hard to disagree with the EtH appointment at the time as he was very successful as was Amorim to a lesser degree.

In terms of EPL experience Chelsea tried Potter and that didn't work.

There's aren't that many elite coaches around. Slot is just lucky to have Salah IMO.

God I’ve missed you and your boundless optimism, Sigma.

It's hard to disagree with what I've written though, all we can base the current status on is last season, the transfer window so far and the pre-season so far.

You call it pessimism I call it realism. The club is at rock bottom, to say otherwise is delusional.

Do you agree that if Howe finishes above Amorim again he has to be considered better (in the EPL at least)?

Well if you compared Howe initial impact at Newcastle compared to Amorim at Utd he already did do better.

Utd could keep cycling managers but the main issue always remains lack of planning, good infrastructure behind a manager etc many have said it and many Utd fans have till club fixes that it doesn’t matter who is sitting on the touch line.

That's what I'm saying about this season, adding the two players we have is great but are they really going to make the team a top 4 team? Really?

Aside from those two, if the players haven't picked up Amorim's system by now, how long is it going to take?

Well in predictions thread I placed Utd in relegation not just cause I’m a Liverpool supporter but based on lack of incomings you had and more so out goings of the players Amorim doesn’t want it doesn’t seem like much is gonna change.

I don’t see how a pre season with him will suddenly make the mostly same group of players do what he wants.

I like the 2 coming in.

However, was hoping for a couple more new faces. Difficult though with the daft and expensive contracts some of the 'old wood' are on.

Realistically I'd 'like' to take top half the season and a cheeky cup run.

Not seen anyone predict top 4, not in this thread at least.

The league is competitive, really is , also I think the teams coming up are going to be stronger this season...

I would like to add that I am behind Amorim and I really want the club to do well. Nothing would make me happier! I think I may give off the impression that I want the club to struggle and get rid of Amorim.

However, you can't build a club on hopes and dreams. Let's hope we shift some dead wood and buy a midfielder if not a striker (ideally both!).

Only really need a midfielder, striker and goalie and should be ok for top 10 next season :)
Lets see how Amorim is doing after the first 5 league games it is a tough start

Will it be his fault if they don't back him further? I'm not sure. The players appear to have low football IQ.
