We need to get a couple of quick wickets with this new ball. If we can get them out with a dozen overs or so left our batsmen can go and pretend they're playing T20 to get the needed runs, but they keep going like this and they'll bat this out for a draw: but that will be a mighty effort if they achieve it.

And... just as I'm typing this, Archer gets the key wicket. Gill out! Edit: Almost that second on the next ball! But Root drops a tricky catch.

Think India have done enough. Even if they collapse now, there isn't time to get the win. Well played them, this has been a stoic knock and an impressive recovery from 0-2.
 
when i was growing up my maths teacher was an avid test cricket fan who spoke of Mike athertons england team as experts in snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory
 
What a man Joe Root, absolute hero.

Needs to stick it up the Aussies in the winter to cement his legacy. His record over there is about the only blemish on his copybook.
 
Not close enough here to think this is nearly done. Woakes I assume won't bat so we basically have 4 wickets left. Another wicket and this is squeaky bum time.
