*** Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Thread (it can fold and everything) ***

So I received Fold 7 today and I don’t really like the form factor. The cover screen is too narrow, and the tablet form I’m not really enjoying. I didn’t ever really go down the tablet route. I always stuck with the max size slab phones and think I prefer them over the fold.
Apps are generally well optimised for slab phones. Not so for folding phones, the hardware might have advanced but apps still lag behind. It's slightly better than it was when I first got my Fold2 5 years ago. But there are apps that just stretch the width and you see less information on the screen compared to a normal phone.

I'll see how I get on but I could switch it for a S26U

It is frustrating that apps are wasting space in tablet mode, Facebook, Strava to name a few.

The screen is narrow, can't imagine how it would be with the Fold 6.

I've got used to the narrow screen, it's kinda like a retro phone in a way, big bezels as well, did they have to have such large bezels compared to normal slap phones ?

Saw this last night and based on the comments, looked like something similar has happened in the past with fold series of phones due to manufacturing defects. Hopefully it's a small number of devices.

My Fold 3 is still going strong other than the degraded battery.

I got a dispatch email last night so hopefully get mine through today.

Finally got mine yesterday. Spent most the time switching data over from my fold 3.

First impressions: it's extremely thin and light compared to the fold 3 and a huge upgrade in every aspect. Due to how thin it is, I'm really struggling to opening the phone up :D

Few days into ownership now. Still loving mine.

Called into Samsung store in Bristol yesterday to check out the official cases. Ended up picking up the official silicone kickstand case. Asked at the til if there were any current discounts for existing samsung members and they knocked 30% off so got it for £41.99 instead of £59. Was happy I asked!

On a side note, it's funny how many odd looks you get when out and about and folding, unfolding and using it in tablet mode....... at least I presume the funny looks were because of the fold!

I love the phone but I know the battery is going to do my head in quickly. I'm not getting to 5pm and the wireless charging is super slow due to the camera bump keeping it off my desk charger too far

Ive been a Note/Ultraq user since the first Note, after my S22U I thought Id try the Fold 5 when it came out, kept it for a bunch of months then bought an S24U. My journey into foldables was short and sweet, as you said the form factor just doesnt work. Movies in tablet mode are roughtly the same size as a regular Ultra screen anyway and folded the screen is just too narrow and was tough going on my eyes reading forums without upping the fonts to cartoon like sizes which then throws off the formatting.
I think Phones have gone over their peak and will be keeping my phones for longer between changes now.

did you restore your phone using smart switch? There's been reports on reddit that it causes a drop in battery performance.

I restored my phone using that, battery is ok but not great. Unsure how that would cause battery drain?

I normally start fresh but I've got so many apps I'm sure I need.

From the comments I've seen, SmartSwitch transfers other things that don't play nicely with OneUI. I personally transferred my data/backup from Google so not entirely sure if it's true or not.

My 2 tablet trade ins have now completed. I was a little worried they might reject one after seeing Samsung cancelling other people's orders who tried the 2 tablet trade in trick!
