Is lidl/aldi a rubbish quality food store?

If you have a newborn, the Aldi baby range of stuff is brilliant and far cheaper than other brands.
Most of the Aldi equivalent products are pretty close, or close enough that you don't mind the lower prices.

As others have said, try stuff out and see. I hate their pesto, but their squash concentrates are bang-on, for example.

Problem I'm finding is stock availability is shocking. Can always get nappies and wipes (which I find better than any other brand/shop), but food pouches and things you get one week and then not to be seen again for several weeks. Not unique to just our local Aldi either as I've ventured out to other Aldi's to see if their stocks any better... But nope.

Lidl Jaffa cakes are elite.
Dont agree? I'm ready to throw hands and die on this hill....

Genuinely though, I am always very surprised and happy with Aldi/Lidl Fruit, veg and uncooked meats. The middle section in Lidl/Aldi is sometimes amazing, sometimes it will frustrate you. Over the past year found some nuts and frappe things in these middle isles, thought I'd try them and if I like go back and get more. Always found myself trying them, loving them, want more and can never EVER find them again. Frustrating.

But I find the cooked sandwich meats, cheese's and bready stuff to be lacking quality compared to regular shops.
If I really look at it, I prefer Lidl to Aldi.

One thing I cant seem to reliably get at Aldi or Lidl is Romain lettuce. Need it for my rabbits and when I go in the evening its either sold out or just the manky stuff left so I just end up doing the whole shop in Asda as value my time more than money saved going to 2 supermarkets. Also dont like that they make it very difficult for you to leave if you haven't bought anything though the self checkout areas now provide a handy escape route unlike the local Morrisons which has this stupid receipt scanner but did find out with enough force the gates will just open.

It's interesting that you mention ASDA being more reliable, as for maybe a month now my nearest branch has been woeful for veg with lots of empty sections on the shelves.

Went through a spell about 6 months ago where not only was the veg section virtually empty but also couldn't get bread or milk and I was convinced the store was about to be shut down. But seems better now and even during the empty spells they still managed to get romaine lettuce somehow. Just wish they would stop moving stuff around or at least change the hanging signs above the aisle once they have moved stuff

10/10, I also add a bit more chicken to it.
I had the hotter one for a while but went back to the normal one.
Funnily enough being a Chav my favourite Chicken Tikka Masala is from Wetherspoon.
I prefer a Tarka Masala myself. It's similar to a Tikka Masala, but just a little otter.

Sorry, I'll get me coat.

I had the "Hottest" curry from wetherspoons, it's about right for a "english" curry. Still not exactly the 4 chilli marking lol.

Usual wet naan and soggy poppodoms though, dry rice (reheated)

yeah I don't expect much tbh. Even breakfasts are pretty dire, cold etc

went tobeys yesterday had king size carvery, pretty damn good, in quality and price. I had a alan partridge sized plate.
I'm told that the Toby Carvery here is okay and that's all. I've never been, but from what I've heard the quality is a bit hit and miss, after hearing tales of lumpy mash or beef you could sole your shoes with.

I had the beef yesterday, it was decent, the joints were just put on the rack so they weren't there long.

For the price it's great, to cook roast myself wouldn't be economically worthwhile, price of gas would bump it up, then the time, each of the items etc and half the day washing up afterwards.
