what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Yeah for the retail price of £4000 you expect to have to endure zero faff.

Hmm might even arrive this weekend then if customs clears fast, it's EVRI handling the UK side of transit so should be quick.

It left around 3pm UK time so won't land until tomorrow morning....slim chance for Friday, but might be Saturday.

That's very different, but it's mastered well, lots of different sounds, drums, percussion and vocal distortion. I've added it to my list, Never heard of them before.

That's why I love Spotify, every day I listen the AI points me to awesome music I never knew existed.

Back from holiday and timed the delivery of the Custom Cans HD 6x0 Copper Mod kit to perfection: ordered Tuesday, arrived today.

Have only fitted the weights without removing the stock foam and there is a reasonable change in the bass. Not as good as the 660S2 with it's extended bass, but it's nice to have some added bass on the 6XX and distinguish it from my stock 650. I'm not sure I want to remove the stock foam so may leave them like this. Only negative is my 6XXs weigh 292g so they feel abnormally heavy now. Apart from two little plastic bags to protect the nickel-plated copper weights, everything is packaged in paper and cardboard. Thought that was a nice touch.

I had the copper rings mod on my HD650, was a good mod but I then also tried removing the foam which then negatively impacted the midrange and up I found, not a massive amount but enough for me to notice, so I'd say leave the foam.

Under 300g is light as a feather, Arya/HE1000se/LCD-2 are all well over 400g but thankfully all are comfortable enough to feel lightweight on the head, and something I did not notice before with the LCD-5 is that the leather pad material softens after time with body temp, I guess that took a few days to acclimate properly as now they are rather comfortable, and I never liked leather pads in the past on other headphones or aftermarket ones (Dekoni). Seems whatever leather source Audeze use is rather high quality.

The foam inside isn't memory though, so that will compress over a period of time needing a pad swap, so I'm tempted to see what aftermarket pad options are out there and see if some additional tuning is possible with different pads in the interest of scientific research noting that the stock pads are stuck on with double sided tape (!).

Also slightly amusing, but the more I use the LCD-5 the more I end up liking them, obviously with the new HP-EQ. Don't like the cable still though, too long, too "bouncy", going to see if there are 3.5mm to mini XLR converters I can use so I can just use the Tripowin cable which feels much nicer and stays where I put it.

Personally I've realised that 300g is my limit/preference really. Anything heavier and I'm more likely to have comfort issues. But I also think it's picking something up that should be a certain weight and now isn't.

Thanks for the thoughts on the foam. I also think that the mod looks better without an ugly piece of foam sticking out of the copper ring. So another reason to leave as is. Very cool mod though, not particularly expensive and seems well made.

@mrk did you ever have a Beyerdynamic Amiron Home wired to review when they first came out? If so, thoughts?

Had mine now for a couple of years and absolutely love them, even more so when I got a DAC!

Delivery tomorrow then yeah

Never had Beyers I'm afraid

Never heard the Amiron Home, but do have a thing for Beyer's, particularly the older DT-classics. Lightness, build and comfort.

As an slight aside one thing I've only just found out is that when Beyerdynamic released the DT 990 Pro X recently they also silently revised the DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition by taming the treble down somewhat with those Amiron/TYGR discs (some have suggested there might be more tuning in the driver, but can't see confirmation of that). This means a lot of information for the for the LE's are out of date for the new DT 770 Pro X. Part of me fancies a closed-back as apart from a cheap Epos H6pro I don't have one. The Fiio FT1 is the obvious choice, but when I use to own a DT 770 Pro (250 Ohm) I really liked it for gaming and podcasts. It had something about it. I imagine the new DT 770 Pro X probably has better imaging and staging for gaming than the F1 but loses out on tuning. Also with Buyers they can be serviced and modded for days. Something the FT1 doesn't have.

So I came from an Amiron Home, wired version. Which I ran with a Mojo I bought it with. Go back in this thread to Jan 2019, and I posted about it then. I upgraded to a Mojo 2 when that came out, and it's a better DAC for sure. As for the Amirons, well, I loved them. They're warmer than the usual Beyer signature, being more V like. I found I could wear them for 6+ hours at a time, with no fatigue or pain. I still have them, as they have the modmic magnet on them, and that's what I'll use them for. They have their detractors, namely <INSERT UPPITY MEASURMENT WEBSITE NAME HERE> people, as they haven't measured very well. Still nice base, if a little boomy, but that suits things sometimes. Think I need to do my pads again on them, but they're pretty simple to do.

Back on the HE1000se for listening time this evening, feels good, amazing how much difference to comfort earcup size and pad style makes when nothing touches the ears and just soft velour making contact with my face. This is why I think circular cups will never give me complete satisfaction. As good as the LCD-5 can sound with EQ, HE1000se just sounds more enjoyable. The use of heavy nice wood, carbon fibre and real leather can't make up for that.

Let's see what the Fosi has to offer.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the DCA Noire XOs, only issue is you don't have any!
