is this ssd dead?

one of my son's drives, namely his 1TB game drive is not showing up in t'his pc', it shows in device manger, but not disk manager.Does this mean the SSD is dead? it's just a cheap no name ssd from elsewhere

Does it show up in the BIOS?

NVME or SATA? If it's SATA, it's probably one of the cables? I'd try reseating everything and if that doesn't work, swap the drives around and see if it'll appear in the BIOS then Windows.

SATA, tried reseating the leads, no dice!

It's odd that it doesn't show in the BIOS but shows in device manager.

Does it show in Ultimate Boot CD when you try to erase the disc? You'll probably need to turn secure boot off and enable legacy booting to boot from a UBCD USB stick.
