Managed to find out who this referred to I think. Have used them in the past but not for a good few years. More competition the better though. Never nice to see people lose their jobs either.

Don't forget there might be local independent computer stores you can help support instead of the big ones online.
 
My last purchase from them was a supposedly brand new 7800XT in 2023, which turned up with the box opened and bits missing, and the card DOA.

I tried to return it under Distance Selling Regs, but they refused my RMA. Had to get Amex involved (S.75) and they finally accepted the return, but tried to charge a restocking fee.

Not a pleasant experience, despite many smooth purchases in the past, so I never bought from them since. I later learned my experience wasn't uncommon in the time after, so possibly a big reason sales had dropped...
 
Two companies immediately sprang to mind, and while this obviously sucks very I'm relieved it wasn't the other one.
 
Oh yea, I know exactly who you mean, and yes, whilst not bad they also sold a lot of ****.

Like 1000w power supplies for £50.... yup good luck with that.
 
I've not purchased anything from that place for a looong time.

I do remember ordering one of those direct attach photo printers for a digital camera from them about 20 years ago for my sister and 13 turned up, yes 13.

They did recover them after awhile but having them all stacked up in the lounge of my parents tiny house while I wondered what the on earth I was going to do with the other 12 was somewhat inconvnient.

I can't find the article at all, just all the poor feedback , and complaints, lowho are we talking about, "scam", or not?
