What have you done to your car today?

Kerbed the front passenger side wheel on the Santa Fe - was late for court and desperately trying to park, without realising the kerb was higher than usual.

It's very minor (about 3mm), but still infuriating on a a four week old motor.

My Wife is thrilled, though. It's usually her that does the first bit of damage, so when she finally takes the wheel, she'll be less worried about scoring "first blood".
When I was a guitar technician, we used to joke about offering a "first ding" service. People are so precious about a shiny new toy until they scratch it.

I've got so used to driving the Austin that when I borrowed my Dads 25 year old Audi to do a tip run the other day, it felt like I was trying to pilot a spaceship. :p

You don't realise how different things are until you try going back to a "modern" car. I kept going for the handbrake on the wrong side of me for one thing!

Spent the morning stripping out the wheel arch liner on the donor car, and collecting up all the rusty/broken screws and clips. Took a nice bucket of parts to the motor factor to get new ones, and he recommended I call Toyota.

Hmph, wanted to finish today. Ordered one of the odd insert clips I've destroyed all of, the rest I can reuse and order when I've got time.

Guess I'll be perusing the service parts diagram a lot tonight!

Beal are pretty good for various trim clips - https://www.beal.org.uk/automotive/trim-clips.html

The issue with most clips, is they often come in fixed pack sizes, and usually with quite a high price tag for what they are.

Yeah after that first scratch or first ding it's a free for all.

I had an Epiphone Les Paul years ago that fell of its hanger in my bedroom, at the time. That ******* was so heavy - it hit a plug socket on the way down and ripped it out of the wall! The guitar had a big gouge in it hah

That's pretty sturdy if it took fixings with it!

I managed to do this to my m140i this morning. Fuming with myself. Can anyone see any option other than a new rear bumper?

I got hold of black M240i badging a while back, but it bugged me that the XDrive badge still had silver highlights as it stuck out like a sore thumb. I took the XDrive off, but to my eye the back of the car looked 'uneven' with just the one badge.

Hunting around I found the cheap knock-off jobs on AliExpress for £3 so thought it was worth a punt. When they turned up they were the wrong size and the style is different. It seems that BMW changed the design between F and G body cars, for some reason, and all the cheapo versions are F series. From a bit more research it seems there is no official black G-series XDrive badge available from BMW. You can get them custom painted from a company in the US, but once you've paid for it and added shipping ($45) and import tax it's over £165, which, for 5 grams of plastic, can F right off.

So I decided to do it myself. How hard can it be? 2 coats of black gloss, 3 coats of 2K clear, a buff with some polish, and a bit of 3M tape on the back, and it's turned out pretty well IMO. And for £15 all in as all I needed was the 2K.

It looks on the wonk in this pic, but I made a template before taking the badge off to make sure it went back in exactly the right spot.

Time will tell how long it lasts, but fingers crossed the 2K should protect it.

I tested out my new map / tune last night :p It was on private land in Bacton, Norfolk, before anyone gets too excited.

Sorry for quality, its a screen shot from a live stream.

I hardwired a dashcam in my Mustang today. First time working on the interior of the car and I was cursing Ford for their use of metal clips that appear to be single use. Only broke two of the damned things taking trim off.
At least there is loads of space inside the cabin fusebox for wires and taps.

One hose on!

The other side I re-flared leaked like a sieve so I re-made the whole line.

Swapped my top mounts back to oem and no matter how many things I tried and removing and refitting I couldn’t stop the rattling from the millways. Lost some camber but it was doing my head in

Today I fit 3 pallets at a time into my Mitsubishi Outlander twice. 13 in total since I've had the car. It could fit another in but it'd be a struggle and need car modification.
It's such a versatile and useful do-all vehicle.
