Its going to be within portal no matter what, but the fact that he says "you can join an existing server or create your own" sounds pretty similar to a non-portal server browser

605k x 60 (Standard edition £60) is a lot of cash.. I pre-ordered but then requested a refund. have to agree, i will hold off for a bit, while they sort out the initial bugs and see how bad cheating is. but also if its maps full of snipe glints i wont be partaking for a while

It is going to be if not full of cheats a good number, the question really is whether they have the tools in place to manage cheating and minimalise the disruption.
I’m holding off to pick it up for less on CDKeys.

Ill get it on cd-keys and save a few bob.
They will probably do the usual ban in waves, with the ban waves near earning reports to boost sales....
They have no incentive to stop cheaters when people play anyway

they did post stats of cheats trying to get in the beta was like 300000 plus. tbh the percentage doesnt really change that much for cheats and fps games over many years.
I think a lot of people pre-order because they know they're going to buy it anyway - and they have the money now to do so. Who knows in 2 months if that 60 quid or so might have been spent on something else?
There's also the nostalgic feel of pre-ordering - although a good % of most gamers now never would have queued outside of a Blockbuster or Game to pickup a game at midnight so maybe that one is less relevant...!

Not going to lie, if every game that I pre-ordered included a physical box as a freebie, I'd pre-order all my games. I really miss having all those lovely binder sized boxes on the shelf.
