How or why would I have known or wanted to do that though?
the fact that Minerva are desperate for the metals is on the mission board as well as galnet news. as to how did I find that specific system.... it's just about using the system states to discover systems which are likely to export what you need and trial and error to see if the supply has been exhausted ........or just use inara.

I just did a few more runs now. titanium is running low but still plenty of steel and loads of aluminium

Actually had my first experience of trying a trade last night. Could buy something for like $600 and it said there was a station nearby buying it for like over double.
Got to said station and it was actually paying 20 credits more.

It was at that point I realised I can't rely on the data you see in the station when you dock.

Edit oh! Just realised I'm actually only six jumps away from there so I'm going to try and get something in.

Finally did it. Was randomly clicking on galactic map and assumed a refinery/extraction system meant metals. Did one aluminium trade and made like 300k then took a punt on a closer system and found titanium that netted me like 800k, bearing in mind I only have like 12 slots.
It's cool but at the same time this just feels a little hot like cheating or boosting which I really don't like.
Which I guess also explains why there are so many couple ships everywhere. I assume it's the sweaties.

@Noxia Hopefully you signed up to the CG on the mission board before making the trade?

To be honest I also think the cash rewards in CG's these days are way over the top, certainly just for dropping off like one tonne of cargo. My alt character has 1.2billion credits now, literally all from just CG cash rewards.

Yes I did, well that was partially because I couldn't figure out how to sell them because I forgot to switch to the sell tab in the commodities market lol.
I mean you can dress it up as much as you want with a backstory, this is an in-game boost/shortcut.

The whole money side of the game has been seriously unbalanced for years now and makes the cheaper ships almost completely redundant. I think I spent over three weeks in my starter sidewinder upgrading it and earning enough to buy a Cobra III when the game fiat came out, these days that's about a few hours if you have the slightest clue of what you're doing.

Yeah well I now have a Type 6 and I can transport 100 things at a time, not sure how much patience I have to try and get in the 75% bracket but I'll keep at it for a bit. Made 3m on my last titanium run but there wasn't much left. If I can get to 32m+ I can increase again with the Type-8 and cargo max.

Oh yeah sod that. I'll crack on and do whatever it is I'm gonna do instead lol. Reward money will be enough.

You could always go and buy a Panther Clipper with real cash and do it in a couple or three trips. This is after all what FDEV had in mind when they set up this CG lol. j/k don't fall for that, but it does expose how newer players, who maybe haven't yet acquired enough to put together to get a Type 9 rigged up, are the ones FDEV were going for in this CG.

I totally agree. I am lucky to have started the game when the economy made a small amount of sense. now, even ignoring the cash jumpstart ships which have zero rebuy that you can magic anywhere at will , if you do the community goals they pay far to much

the problems. is I want those unicorn rewards some of which you cannot get in game any other way. also if you ever want to have the most expensive stuff in the game you kind of have to cheese it. 5 billion to buy and another 2 billion to k it out a fleet carrier plus weekly running costs even if you don't play... and I dread to think wat the vanguard's super carrier will cost .

I played my 1st 10 years in the game with my total credits and assets costing under 2 billion. 1 year later I have about 7 billion saved up and a decked out fleet carrier.

Why did I get blown up by Minerva power security force even though I was pledged to a different power during all those runs the other night?

I've unpledged now, not like I was doing anything with it anyway.

it's worth pledging to someone.... yes you will get attacked from time to time but it's not often.... but the rewards for being pledged are insane.

apart from the unique gear you get access to you get up to 100% of your rebuy covered if you get blown up by a rival power or blown up for any reason in your own territory....also the care packages you get semi regularly are v useful.

Unfortunately happened with 102 units of titanium lol. I was just on approach to the bloody dock as well

it's unfortunate and can happen. over all tho I would say you will end up massively in positive by pledging. mind you it helps I am with LYR who is in control of the delivery system. so not only do I get power play credits for every delivery, I get 25% bonus for every delivery I make and if the worst was to happen he would cover any loss to my ship in that system, or any other system if my destruction was caused by another power player ship.
mind you also I am in a type 10 with engineered armour. so long as I don't dillydally around I can generally ignore hostile ships. also I drop a heatsink as soon as someone shoots at me. it causes them to not be able to lock on for a few precious seconds

note all of this is against npcs. end of the day if a real player decides they want to take you out.... unless you are in a massively engineered very strong armoured trader (which will sacrifice a lot of capacity) then if they are in a ship geared up to killing you then you are toast. elite is hugely weighted towards the attacker , law enforcement wont react quick enough and if it's power play and you are an enemy they won't care anyway.
I play in solo or a private group where PvP is not allowed so anything I say is only relevant against npcs

I'm guessing there is a cool down that stops me pledging to someone new once you abandon one?
I got an SCO FSD for the Type 7 and I didn't realise they were a bit different because I tried to stick to the old 7s half throttle rule and overshot by many LS lol, now I'm half throttling around 20s instead and seems to work.
Did have a panic moment when it said my FSD operating outside of normal range and the temp was shooting up and I had no idea why, I assume it was running too long on full power/throttle or something.

Also tried EDCopilot last night but it crashed my game, also couldn't find a guide on how to use it with vr.

what happened to being under the station's protection when you were w/in a certain distance? was it an opposing faction's station?

I guess so because I've shown as Hostile all around that area since I pledged.
The funny thing is I saw those same forces destroying NPC ships one after another and I couldn't figure out what was going on. I even went up to one then it ignored me

They don't get involved when you are attacked by the controlling powerplay faction, they do get involved if you attempt to fight back and you end up getting ganked by both lol... it's a bit of a ball ache to be honest and I'm still not sure it's worth the extra hassle. It has made me start running a shield on my type 9 again that is for certain. The really rubbish part about it all is when you get killed by your own carrier because you had the gall to defend yourself and so far as I am concerned FD really need to change that behaviour.

kinda makes sense that the controlloing power would run the police, so they'd be biased, i'll have to watch out for that - still finding my feet in the game and mostly exploring to get money, haven't pledged yet, i'm still dithering over who to go w/.
