**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Now that winters are getting wetter and milder for the most part what's the thoughts behind buying all seasons over generally better in the wet summer tyres?

Still depends on what you are doing and where you live in my opinion and no guarantees we won't have a colder winter(s) now and again. There are some decent summer touring tyres which have excellent wet weather performance and hold up well in colder temperatures but they will not do well in any real ice or snow.

It is actually a bit of a dilemma for me as I quite often encounter torrential downpours and wet slick roads in mild conditions but also can be required to be out and about any time of day or night under any conditions so in the eventuality it is actually wintery there is no substitute to having at least all-season tyres. Currently means I have multiple sets of wheels for my vehicles but that is a pain in terms of storage and swapping them over.

Not personally but a mate used to have them on his Golf TCR, he loved them and said they were brilliant. Tracked his car a lot and they held up well too.

I think that's generally accepted to be accurate in terms of wet braking performance, tyre manufacturers aren't suggesting replacement at 3mm just to make a bit more money out of you, performance does start to drop off in terms of water clearing ability.

I'll also say that Michelin are, AFAIK anyway, the only major brand that put a lot of research into ensuring performance remains at or close to the same levels when new as when wearing down, at least down to 3mm.

Instead of summer tyres and winter tyres, I've gone for a set of summer tyres and all season tyres.
Snap, winters were overkill for the sunny midlands, and the all seasons are a lot more forgiving when we suddenly get a random week of 18 degrees at the start of February

I got a Ford Mondeo with cheap chinese winter tyres. They were hilarious in the summer. I remember following a double decker bus around a roundabout so I was not going fast all and they were still screeching!

Pulled the trigger on a new set of all seasons. kinda feels like I've robbed them at this price.

@Costco and includes fitting.

I'm looking forward to them as I'm currently on dreaded rock solid Runflats
That's a steal! I'll have to get myself a few Costco card.

is this an accurate representation of worn tyres? Seems insane how much longer stopping distance is

All I can say in that respect - I work near a layby they often temporarily dump cars from a nearby accident spot and I've seen it so many times where a car has gone into the back of others in the wet and it is sitting there with bare minimum tread.

Give me some 235 / 35 / R19 best options that are star marked for BMW?

Im hearing Michelin PS4s are the way to go but which one is actually star rated is it the self seal all very confusing?

Yes very easy to overheat if you are getting on with it in warm weather. The All Season Contacts are still great in colder months, but dont turn to jelly if the temps get into the teens, even giving it the beans.

Hi there

Is anyone here running the Yokohama AD09 tyre?
I'm maybe trying them on my GT4 - I have a set of 19s for track use and put a set of A052s on.

Only did one very hot morning at Pembrey and they're not looking very healthy. It was a shame as I was expecting god levels of grip and it was so hot everyone was struggling for grip. Glad I didn't take them to the Ring. No way would they have lasted the last weekend I was there.

AD09 or Cup2R will be next - a lad in our group with an Impreza and AD09s and they seemed to last quite well.

I was fully expecting my All Season Contacts to get a bit squirrelly in the 30+ temps last week but generally they were still pretty solid.

The Bridgestone All Season 6 I've found change less in very hot temperatures than Bridgestone’s summer touring tyres - the t005 especially get a bit vague when temperatures get to around 30 - at least on heavier SUV and pickup like vehicles I've got them on.

Needing x 2 front tyres for the A45s. Currently has Conti 6s on and thinking of upping to the Conti 7s. Cheapest I've found is £214 a tyre.

When we was down at Mercedes Benz world it's what they were running on all their performance cars and the grip felt so strong.

Love new tyre day. Full set of Goodyear Vector4 All Seasons fitted. On the drive I home I could already appreciate how comfy these are vs my old RFs.

Bye old Runflats. These were actually great performers. It's just that they were far too stiff.

My first experience at Costco Chingford and Costco tyres in general. Professional, friendly and efficient. They correctly torqued the bolts and even machined cleaned the mating surfaces, which was a first.

And thanks to their appointment only system everything was organised and not full of bodies all over the shop.

I had mine done at kiwikfit of all places a couple of weeks ago and they too machine cleaned the faces and got the torque wrench out to finish them up as well. Very surprised.
