Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

Again, weak writing. Like any normal person would be screaming about some terrifying alien creature almost ripped him apart, the writers chose to take that moment to do the brother/sister reveal.

I thought the same, but the ship was collecting specimens. They could have collected the eggs from wherever and are transporting them back. Unless there's a Queen we haven't seen yet!

Probably because kids these days have an attention span of the average TikTok video duration
I honestly feel like that's happened to me even though I don't watch tiktoks.

but then I will watch an old movie like Contact, Shawshank, Schindlers list etc... and I'm thoroughly engaged the whole movie, don;t look at mobile phones, alt tab to browse the web etc.

Modern dialogue, shooting or something is just broken... old movies had less to work with, so they had to do more with what they had right....

people can't create good movies anymore it seems without tons of special effects, colour grading up the wazoo etc

maybe it's all the green screen acting everywhere just killed the art of movies

Not sure how this builds tension with constant flashbacks etc.
  • Probably because kids these days have an attention span of the average TikTok video duration. They now complain that new series are boring, when what they are doing is introducing characters and building the plot. Maybe the writers are trying to capture all types of audience.
Also why did the alien push the medic away from the eggs?
  • Don't remember that?
It wiped out soldiers and a room full of people in mere seconds but has had three goes at the medic and missed/failed.
  • Plot armour, he is Wendy's brother/motivation and no doubt Wendy will have to rescue him at some point.
Why is it just killing?
Why hasn't it dragged people to the eggs?
  • Does it know about the eggs? It's not the aliens ship.

The alien jumps onto the medic in the egg chamber pushing them both out of the room, not attacking, not killing, grabs and jumps out with him.

I'm pretty sure the alien will know, they are known to have pretty good senses and if not they normally start a nest up asap.

See everything else alien related with how it operates.

Although the timing wasnt great I was really glad that they got it out of the way, too many shows would drag the whole oooh when will he figure out its his sister storyline for as many episodes as possible, so I was happy it was dealt with quickly

You mean you wouldn't be having a lengthy conversation with your sister in a cramped corridor, with a xenomorph most likely going to be barreling down that corridor at 35mph?

I find that sensible choices in these sorts of movies/tv shows would make for very short movies/tv shows , most of them would be finished in 20mins without anything actually happening. Its the dont-go-into-the-cellar syndrome, normal person opts not to go into the creepy cellar. Logical decision, movie ends there because all the subsequent events dont happen :)

I just took that as the Alien was going for the kill, not that it was protecting the eggs. It missed him last time, so it was going again for Hermit. Although, if the Alien saw Hermit amongst the eggs, then maybe it was protecting them - dunno.

like in latest Jurassic park movie, near the end, scarlett shouting "HELLO ARE YOU THERE" altering them

Also from past movies the xenos generally only kill those that are a threat, have weapons etc, those at the party would have been incapacitated to be later implanted/converted into eggs and not outright killed.

Also generally not sure how the xenos can reproduce enough, since only one chestbuster is from one host. Something like like magog from the awful andromeda series would result in higher numbers per host (and help with recover with large losses) also with the short lifespan of xenos, one xeno per host couldn't really function

"

Reproductive Method

The Magog are all one gender, and reproduce by laying eggs in the paralyzed bodies of large organisms, exclusively sentient ones. The Magog "parent" then watches over the host for the couple of weeks it takes for its young to hatch and eat their way out of the host organism, which in the process dies a slow, agonizing death. Interestingly, the resulting Magog young seem to contain small amounts of DNA from the host as well as the Magog parent, this likely introduces genetic variation and why they require a sentient host. The rate at which Magog offspring grow to physical adulthood is believed to be a function of how much food is available to the young, with abundant supply this can be as little as a fortnight after emerging from their host. This fact in addition to the Magog's numerous offensive adaptations have lead many to believe that the Magog were originally engineered by the Spirit of the Abyss."

Whole point was to have humans go to the eggs, accidentally or forced usually.

Obviously the script writers looked at the alien and not much else.

it is a Tadpole, that gets ingested. the series is ok, not that great but the robot looks like he may switch and go anti human.

Not really liking how they are playing the alien stuff - far too fast and loose with some of it. Do appreciate some of the rest of it especially where they've leaned into Bladerunner a little and what look like a few nods to Firefly. I feel like they've got a lot of the right ingredients but not quite there in putting it all together so far.

Dear god, this is so poor that I ended up reading /r/lv426 on reddit whilst watching. The sets and visuals are spectacular but that's all I feel really. Oh and Timofy Elephant is brilliant.

So why did they use a lung? Thought they need a proper body? Also wasn't the little pod a bit big ?

Yep, basically this is terrible, in the bin level stuff. But I've got nothing better to do so will probably hate watch the remaining 5 episodes, as soon as they're available.

probably just needs warmth which speeds up metabolism and growth stages, even ants realise that and take advantage of it.
and a food source.

there probably 0 reason to need a human host outside of those conditions being met.

outside of a lab I'd imagine you aren;t going to see aliens laying eggs in tins of spam etc
