What film did you watch last night?

It's the MoS shield :D

Warfare 8/10
A solid war film. Perhaps not quite up there with Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down in depicting the horrors of war, but not far off and good nonetheless.
I watched this last night too, properly enjoyed it. Very claustrophobic feeling and gave me a sense of what it might be like to be in a situation like that, especially with how everyone starts off when it's quiet to how they react when it hits the fan.

I thought Warfare was really good. I found the small scale of it was really interesting. We’re used to films that span weeks or months or even years of war, with a really broad sweep to them and covering loads of stuff in terms of the bigger picture. Warfare is absolutely the opposite, because it’s one tiny engagement in pretty much real time with next to no context. It feels closer to the experience of the soldiers on the ground in terms of “you go here, you do this” even if you don’t understand why, or how it fits into the overall war. It’s mind boggling then to think about how this is one incident taking a couple of hours involving a couple of dozen people, and then you imagine that being scaled up to tens or hundreds of thousands of soldiers for months and years at a time and everything that must be happening all the time across the whole war.

Sisu, just a great tight action film, somewhat over the top at times but leans into it with some subtle smudges of humour. It's not trying to be anything it's not and the end result worked well.
Not sure why I've not watched it sooner!

I went into D til Dawn blind, so the last part my mind was blown! (also my introduction to Salma, nom!)

Very cool dialogue, Tarantino was creepy, a little too creepy and Clooney gave me a man crush. Also 'After Dark' tune is still on my playlist.

The people who enjoy Dusk till Dawn the most are the people that go into it knowing nothing about it (like I did) :)

I really ought to watch that, given my Finnish heritage.

I’m told that “sisu” doesn’t quite translate into English, and it’s something like grit or determination, a bit like we’d say guts, or even balls.

Juror #2 7/10
A Clint Eastwood directed courtroom drama with a bit of a moral dilemma. Fairly decent pacing. I wont say much more to avoid spoliers.
I read Clint was a mere 94 years young when he helmed this one!

Flight of the Phoenix 2004

Random pick, I think.... I may have seen very short bits of this once before.

Had some good music in it, about the only thing going for it. Crash scene was awful, even for 2004, I should have just binned it off there. Apparently it's a remake of a 1965 movie although I've never seen it, people say it's better. 2 hours long nearly as well.

Sometimes you can get lucky on a random pick, not today.

3/10
