City Fibre

Not sure, what problems have zen been having
Their usual Manchester/London gateway ping ping, migration of users onto their own network which isn't as performant as their last one, their massive drop in customer service, plus many other issues you can find via Google. No doubt things may have been improved, but Zen's 'go away meaningless singular user' attitude left a sour taste in my mouth and I'll likely never use their services or anyone associated with them again.

IDNet use CityFibre backhaul, I’ve emailed to ask that exact question.

I see no speed issues on IDNet, this is over WiFi.

Op specifically stated steam was slower than expected, IDNet may use CF backhaul, but they use Zen core, steam peering is a core issue (Zen), so Speedtest results - while nice - are not really any use to the issue they are having.

Exactly this, my Speedtest maxes out(possibly an algorithm detecting a Speedtest), but when I’m downloading from steam and other games(stuff where you want your connection to max out) it doesn’t max out, where as steam always maxed out with no-one

Decided to give Sky a go on CF - seems my area has the pick of the deals at the moment with a bit of cashback gets 900/900 down to £17 a month

That's quite the bargain. Guess it will include an increase in Apr 26 and then another in Apr 27 that you need to potentially factor in. Will probably still be quids in.

I think if your on an older No One contract and still in contract you don't get the newly introduced yearly increase since Home Telecom took them over / merged, come November when my contract is up I'll be moving to someone else.
Hello Glanza, And all,
I am with No One Internet / Home Telecom, I Joined No One at the same time as you. My contract ends on November 21st, 2025.

Are you having any problems with your Upload? Mine started to drop on 8th August from 940mbps to as low as 20/100mbps only on upload.
Download is 942mbps and mostly stable.

Here are my Speed test:
Internet Speed Test 1
Internet Speed Test 2
Internet Speed Test 3

I have reported this to Home Telecom, and they asked me to do a lot of speed tests, using Ethernet and Wi-Fi, they are all very low on the upload side.
They are blaming their supplier, No One internet.

This is still on going, it is the third week that I phoned and emailed them.
To this date, they have ignored me, even slamming down the phone when I ring them, after waiting for 15/20 minutes.

I cannot wait until November when my contract is over.

I moved to Aquiss over a month ago using the switch service whilst still in contract with No One, before I moved didn't have any issues with speed.

Hello Glanza,
Thank you for your reply that is tremendously helpful.

May I ask, did you have any penalty payments with No One when you left? Also, did you have VoIP with them? Unfortunately I have.

Many Thanks.

No 'penalty' payments from them, no VOIP as not required for me.

I would imagine if you have repeated unresolved faults logged, then they will have no choice but to waive the remaining fees as you”re nowhere near the stated minimum.

Thank you for your reply, it is good to hear from you, and very reassuring.

Well Sky on Cityfibre is installed and looks good (for the price) - no messing about getting it to work with a third party router (UniFi) - Just set it to auto or DHCP and away it goes (including IPv6)

Is there a list of ISPs that use City Fibre, been trying to find a comparison of them but everything I've found looks to be a bit out of date.

Put your address in the CityFibre checker and the ISPs that can serve you will come back as a list
Thanks, I can't actually get it just yet though. Is due to go live next month some time hopefully, wanted to do some research on who to go with.

GL22BS is a post code which has CF available, you can use that to see what ISP options there are. I’m not 100% sure if there is any regional difference but should give you an idea.

Thanks, quite a few there, most of which I've never heard of. I'll have a look and see what they're like, only after 1GB really. Are there any to be avoided?
