Google Pixel 10 Series (10/10 Pro/10 Pro XL/10 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 4)

How does Google get simple things so wrong.
I’ve got the iPhone 16 Pro in the similar type of case and it’s fairly grippy.

Google seem to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory nearly every time with their cases… Pixel 2 and 3 ones were similarly slippy as owt of I remember correctly.

As I read a comment the other day, didn't Pixels used to be about a snappy Android experience at a competitive price?

Edit - apologies got my Nexus and Pixel brand mixed up.

Pixels have always been about Cameras (with computational photography). More recently they seem to be pushing AI stuff that I'm not sure anyone wants or cares about?

I've been trying to think what to get with all that store credit, the only thing along those lines I would like is a newer iPad. Needs to be IOS so I can keep one foot in the Apple eco system. Next thing would be a official airtag equivalent so I can put it in my car. My current airtag feel inside the car so can't be retrieved once the battery runs out.

So true. This was on my P8P and it looked excellent. However, it was an absolute lint magnet the first week and then it turned into an oily mess from there on where I had to wipe it down every day. Mous replaced that one permanently.

I was gonna use the store credit to get a case and maybe a new wireless charger but tempted to get cheaper ones elsewhere and keep credit for when a watch goes on sale.

Edit: anyone use those magnetic wallets on a back of a phone? How well do they work?

Strange.
My p8p Google case is very grippy but doesn't attract lint or anything for that matter.
To grippy sometimes.

And new cases are slippy ? Oh boy

I think we are heading into an AI era, like it or not. Phones are going to have it through their OS. The G5 is over 60% faster in the TPU/AI department than the G4, so you can see where they are pushing the Tensor chip.

I read Apple are in talks with Google, to licence Gemini to be the new brain of Siri. Apple clearly see this too, but they don't have an AI model 10 years in the making such as Gemini, so they are going to head into the AI era lagging behind, their only real options are using Gemini or going somewhere like OpenAI.

wow, £30 for 1 tag. Feels expensive or are these the going rate for these things now?

Never had one before, was looking to get one for my wallet, which I always misplace :D
Yeah it's the usual rip off.
I have the Samsung one's for a tenner... and there's a hack to get them to work on any Android phone.

The only interaction that I'm aware of having with AI regularly is the Google search and I don't see why that would require the phone to specifically support it via hardware.

I'm obviously missing something - what are you all using AI for that requires a phone capable of meeting your expectations?

I believe It will be a transition that will happen over the next decade, which is starting now. The shift will also be around cloud based to on device AI, which needs to happen for speed, reliability and privacy.

Phones will be tailored around personalised assistants, enhanced photography and videography, generative AI models, health & wellbeing and more, all woven into the DNA of the operating system.

In a decade, you'll be interacting with AI and not even realise.
