What film did you watch last night?

Forbidden Planet 1956, I don't know who done the transfer of this but bloody hell does it look good for a 1956 film

You can see the DNA for Star Trek, Star Wars and a few other Sci Fi franchises in it, a big heavy of the exposition but passed the time well enough.

The Naked Gun (2025) 7/10
spoof crime movie that pays homage to the original,
great puns, and deadpan moments. I don't want to spoil any of the quips, so I'll be quiet
thankfully Mum got a lot of the movie too, but just a bit bonkers, she said
Pamela Anderson was more sexy in it than she was in Showgirls, and frank, and her character actually had some chemistry, since they are dating IRL

7/10, maybe a little predictable, unlike the puns, most of the puns are fresh, shiny new ones

The Gorge (Apple TV)

Errrr, the "twist" about half way through actually made it worse, I'd love it had they not done that and kept it a mystery.

It's fun but it went from good to meh very quickly.

Yup first half was excellent but as soon as they showed the first monster it started going downhill and last half was meh, good premise poor plot.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)

This was very poor and I could tell from the opening scene it was going to be and should've turned it off. The start of the film and the the parts shot in Malta scream TV show quality, as does the acting and dialogue. The film does get marginally better once on the ship. But there's nothing here to justify making it. When you're basing you're entire film on a single chapter from a book that's been adapted to death, you can't expect it be worth your time.

2/10

After only ever seeing the first Mission Impossible movie, i decided to start watching the rest of the series.

Watched 2 and 3 yesterday and thought they was pretty good, although 2 did drag a bit in the middle.

Looking forward to 4 and maybe 5 later today.

Mission 2 is probably the worst of them all. It's a John Woo film more than anything else. 3 is underrated and easily has the best villain.

I'd watch 4 on its own and 5 and 6 back to back, then 7 and 8 back to back.

The life of Chuck - enjoyable, highly watchable about the life and death of a man called Chuck! Split into 3 acts and in reverse chronological order. Nothing inventive about it but the first act is brilliant, 2nd act is good and 3rd act is meh but worth a watch.

7.5/10
I enjoyed this one, his dancing reminded me of Christopher Walken in fat boy slim's video

MI: Final Reckoning.

Ridiculous plot, 3hrs long(!) but loved it. Fantastic countries and scenery and stunts were cray cray - plane chase looked phenomenal, but was a bit boring :( Sub scene was heart stopping moment, but the escape was stretching the boundaries more than the usual MI stuff.

First 30mins were a nice homage to the franchise, it would be nice if TC came back as a Controller (Jim Phelps) and hand the reigns over to the next team. He's too old to be an agent and it was starting to show in FR.

Loved it.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) - 7/10

Silly and daft but highly entertaining with plenty of gags, one liners and slapstick humour. The story and characters were functional but the villain and plot weren’t particularly inspired and some of the jokes are dragged out for too long towards the end, but it was still funny throughout.
