Finished yesterday (17 hours, hard, simulation driving, disabled quest markers). I have things to critique:
- UE5 sucks and was a bad choice, Mafia Remake engine would have been much better
- stealth is a bit too simple/simplified
- some gameplay animation work is a bit stiff
- too many knife fights, given how mechanically not-that-interesting they are
But, I also have things I loved:
- wonderfully realized early 20th century Sicily setting
- generally good writing, likeable characters, strong ending
- fun gameplay overall, even the simple stealth, good gun feel, fun driving in simulation mode
Overall, I would say it is on similar level as the other Mafia sequels when it comes to my enjoyment of it. Not as good as the original 2002 masterpiece, but still really good, immersive, beautiful movie-like experience.
