Supermarket abuse of pricing?

seems my critique of Aldi refits is not alone V

maybe they give out gloves like the petrol station.
Unfortunately it's all to do with green credentials/cost savings. The money saved by not cooling chunks of open space is massive and that in turn helps keep costs lower.

The latter is not fun when attaching a 10ft banner in 50mph winds with hail lashing down the back of the hi viz coat.

You can’t have a banner displaying an offer which has finished.

Are you attaching or removing the banner as your comments don't add up? Its far easier to pull a banner down than put it up.

Or are you just adjusting the argument to suit your agenda?

We remove one banner and attach a new one. Usually when one offer ends and a new one starts.

Perhaps an intervention by a health and safety professional would be in order if supermarket employees are having to struggle with a 10' banner in 50mph winds.

And there is a rule that you MUST put up the new banner when you take an old one down?

Regardless - head office mandate does not trump H&S but it's up to the individual to bring it up to the relevant people rather than knuckling under and then bitching about it... Who's the idiot with potential injuries at that point?

Edit - "won't you think of the children" that may get wrapped up in a wayward banner :p

Anyone else noticed that over the last couple of months, Sainsburys require you to "unlock" their special prices in their app? Adding yet another step in the non-stop ripoffs in the hope that people don't know or miss it.

Getting a bit ridiculous tbh. I'd like to see a graph overlaying their crap antics and shoplifting.

Shop somewhere else

I like to spread it around a bit, get stiffed by them all equally. Maybe one week I'll just buy bread from only one shop and let them think I'm a povvo, whilst the other probably thinks I'm a raging alcoholic and the third is wondering why the only thing I buy is toothpaste.

Gotta play them at their own game.

what kind of deals have been offered anything on scratch cooking foods rather than fast/processed foods. (cheap drugs ... coffee would be interesting too)
might consider installing the first supermarket app if it offered anything like legendary pre-covid waitrose plan - select you favourites and get was it, 15/20% off

New waitrose refit has some maximum security twilighthome cabinet for 'aged beef' along with a candid-camera screen at entrance with the word Recording in red letters overlayed,
JS has security tagged steaks too.

Are they mentioned on the shelves or does it tell you in the app only? I've got family who shop at Sainsburys and there's no way in hell they'd be able to use an app.

I *think* they're usually on the shelves. I get a notification every Friday on the Nectar app that my super-duper-give-us-your-data-or-pay prices are available and I need to unlock them. I usually do this and forget about it, if I get a brucey bonus then so be it, I'm not gonna alter my shopping habits for a few pence.

Urgh, ******* scumbags. Thanks, I'll see if my dad spots them. My urge to see if I can use throw away accounts is increasing.

It's specific discounts for your Nectar card based on your shopping habits. It's additional to the on-shelf "Use your card or pay full price" discount which I think is also criminal.

I hate this as I don't have the Nectar app, don't want it, shouldn't have to log in to my emails, etc.

Personally we've been getting a "£9 off when you spend £60" voucher every single time we shop. So we go back and spend another £60 for 15% discount, rinse and repeat.

It didn't spit out a voucher last week so we've gone back to Morrisons who mostly just put prices on a shelf.

my local tesco and sainsbury's have security tagged butter, cheese, some chocolate and coffee etc. They tag basically everything that is "price dense". If they didnt charge so much for those items, I dont think it would be worth tagging them lol.

I've noticed in general a lot of these loyalty discounts lately the loyalty price is the same as the lowest price the item is selling at elsewhere (without loyalty) there is rarely an actual loyalty saving over the best available price overall.
