Perfect. I chortled quite audibly.
I’m enjoying it as well. The production values are generally high, but the premise makes little sense. On the one hand you could have entirely programmable androids; on the other hand, synthetics endowed with child‑like personalities, because children possess untapped imagination and are not curtailed by adult‑like thinking. Whut!
They removed a lung from the brother to use as the incubator for the alien embryo?
Is there a lack of disposable organic animals / humans for this task?
What is with this island research station and its wall goo, which apparently needs constant cleaning up?!

That one has me interested too. I mentioned it to the wife as a possible future plot device they haven't revelaed. It's certainly an odd choice if it's just scenery and they have lingered on it twice so far. First time it could be just making the World look intersting, but twice, it has to be something, right!

All I really got from it was a tenuous visual link to the Bladerunner eyeball guy.
The way Nibs was looking at the wall cleaner and what she has seen, i thought she was going to walk into the spray and kill herself. She is obviously struggling with what she is now being asked to do.
I still think it's crazy that the writers expect us to believe that single digit kids can be put into an adult body and then sent to carry out dangerous missions - the minds are still kids and they have had zero training or therapy - would be a boring watch if they did months of therapy though

Not only that, their minds will always stay childlike. Causes a problem with "all of humanity moving to hybrid bodies to gain immortality" and "all humanity will be child like minds" plus "how will species continue if everyone becomes a hybrid"

I'm not drawing from the details in the show itself rather than what makes sense to me but the technology is in the prototype stage and there are issues with an adult mind adapting to the technology - I'm assuming that there is a threshold with a child's mind learning to move beyond its initial limitations and fully leverage and understand the advanced processing and databank capabilities accessible to it. Something the show should have made clearer really.

I guess from biology a childs mind changes through their life, it goes through hormone changes, gets bigger etc.
Could a computer brain with with human consciousness inside simulate and expand the natural aging process from child to adult mind?
For example Claudia from Interview With a Vampire, does her mind always stay child like ? Since vampirism stops aging process it should stop brain development

Yes they do, but they only transferred consciousness very recently.
Essentially their human minds will develop at the same speed still as if they were in their child bodies, but their synth bodies are capable of lots more.

They would not have emotions based on chemical reactions though.
I don't think Alien universe has technology for computer to develop child mind to adult mind, they're still pretty backward. Think it would make more sense of "forever a child"
With "The Matrix" the minds are still housed in the human body, so as the lifeform in the pod matures so does the mind.

yes but the Alien universe hasn't shown level of computer advancement anything like that. I can't think of any sci fi that has concept of human mind in a computer where the mind "grows up" like a human brain would.
I think the Peter Pan references are right.

But the Alien universe It doesn't make sense anyway when the Nostromo has 70's style tech and Weylands Prometheus ship has super sci-fi technology.
Even if you handwave it away by saying that was top of the line/"spared no expense" and a mining ship gets the super budget tech.
The Nostromo is supposedly built about 70 years after Prometheus and Alien is set nearly 100 years later

They still need to learn though and adapt their behaviour to their new surroundings etc
I'd imagine it;s more like "muscle memory" now they aren't hormone driven and it takes a bit of time to break the child like habits and thought process.

That's an area where you just have to suspend disbelief as it's entirely a function of the film production limitations not in the in World tech. Plainly the cyborgs and synths are substantially further ahead than teh retro style monitors. It is grit in the gears of suspending disbelief but only if you make it.

Prometheus was a bad movie anyway, but Ridley made a mistake by not keeping the tech broadly the same IMO
At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, that’s because Alien was made in 1979 and Prometheus was made in 2012. Both show the contemporaneous ideas of “high tech”. In another 20 years Prometheus might well look like Alien looks now.

Star Wars: Episode VII was made in 1983 and Episode VII was made in 2015 but they are consistent in terms of technology.
