Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

I don't think playing Fernades that deep works, purely because you are not getting the best out of him from that position; it is almost like trying to put a square peg into a round hole.

I'd be really disappointed if Mainoo is sold. He's only 20, with big potential. I think it would be a huge mistake and could be very embarrassing if he excels elsewhere. Pogba at Juve comes to mind.

I like Mainoo - But like other said - He's great for a game, then goes AWOL for a couple of games.

Again at the moment - Amorin doesn't appear to like him, even playing Mount in that holding role the other day for a bit.

Focus NEEDS to be on shifting Anthony / Sancho and Garnacho for now - Hjoland looks like he's on the way as well which is a shame, I think he got very little support/service as a forward

Yes, this is why I think a loan rather then a sale is a more sensible option for Hojlund. His stock is low due to his performance in a poor performing team last season. If he can improve in a more functioning system at Napoli, even if we still don't want him, his value would be higher come next summer.

I see this a lot.
I like him. He's one of our own. He has potential. We don't know his best position. He has clutch moments. He's good in tight spaces.
Objectively I don't think he is currently good enough to play in a two man midfield. From what we have seen it is not his game and this is why I think we have all this rumour. Personally I don't think he will be sold in this window but it is quite obvious that Amorim does not rate him the way the English press and some United fans do.

The biggest problem with Kobbie is he lacks athleticism. That can be broken down into three areas
1. Physical strength not to be man handled off the ball whilst in possession. I think this has improved and he is very tricky with good close control, making this attribute much less of an issue.
2. Speed over short distance. He's not slow but he lacks the explosive power over 10-15 yds to move into space when in possession and to close a gap or opponent down when out of possession.
3. He appears to lack stamina to be able to play at the required intensity for an extended period. I see him as a lanquid player who rests whenever he can rather than play 100% until he can't. In other words it looks like he holds back.

I think this is underscored by what Amorim said about him needing to develop the intensity and rhythm in his play. You cannot be a "coaster" in a 2 man midfield pivot.

We got carried away with this lad who is after all 20yo, had a stellar impact at 18yo and ended up in an England team. Simply put he was not ready and has struggled to build on his breakout either through injury (of which there have been quite a few) or form. Now what we see is a familiar story - young lad breaks through, gets hyped beyond reality, agent over stretches his worth and player that cannot handle the truth. The coach does not think you are ready to be the Manchester United midfield pivot. Just as Paul Scholes was not ready at 20yo. Mainoo clearly has talent not least of all his coolness under pressure in the opposition box. He has thrived in clutch moments but he has not ever bossed a game or a half or even twenty minutes say the way Cesc Fabregas did at a very young age. Whilst I'm sad he's not the solution to our problems I do support Amorim's judgement that he is not first choice yet and has to earn it. Earn it on the pitch and not through a media frenzy that frankly cannot be justified if you are basing it on performances.

We would be very silly to sell Mainoo IMO. If we end up sacking Amorim in the next year then Mainoo will likely be one of the first choice CMs as part of a midfield 3.

Newcastles owners if they had any balls would have done what marinakis did for forest when spurs tapped up gibbs white and the isak saga would have been put to bed weeks ago

This would have required Newcastle to pay Isak £300k+ a week.

You wanna value players at £150m. Pay them like £150m players. Or they do what Isak is doing.

He's not shown enough to suggest he can play in a 2. I mean, Old man Casemiro is playing ahead of him and Ugarte! In 4-3-3 yes but not unless he has an exceptional CDM alongside him. Agree it would be sad to sell him but is he really "all that"? Who would you prefer in midfield - Baleba or Mainoo?

I still think Newcastle short of Midfield cover :D

We could be cash rich in the next few days. Sneaky offer of 40m for Mainoo?

I’m backwards and forwards on Isak going at the minute.

Part of me thinks refuse the sale, he will end up playing again so we keep a world class striker.

But other part of me thinks, just sell, get max value for him now and if that means we replace with 2 x B standard strikers so be it. If we refuse sale, the situation is perceived to be so toxic, will his attitude poison the dressing room, and the cloud will just hang over us every transfer window til he goes regardless now.

I’m actually leaning towards sell up even if we replace with sub standard. Then try really work a deal to bring in a proper replacement next summer from now and not wait and suffer another disaster striker transfer window.

Either way, Eddie will be pulling up trees again this season getting max out of what he has or will get. If we get top 4/5 again this season, Eddie Howe deserves something special, at the very least he deserves the owners to just say here you go, here is 500 million or something stupid, let’s just chin PSR off and really go for it, who do you want?

My opinion is that no player is bigger than the club. Plenty of players have forced a move away from Liverpool and I've always been happy to see the back of them. If a player doesn't want to play for us, he can do one. I'm always happy to take the money and invest in new players who do want to play for the club.
